Make the Terran see Warp Prisms in their nightmares...

Introduction

+ Show Spoiler +
I actually meant to post this guide to the forums a lot sooner than this, way back when I added the build order to Liquipedia, but it completely slipped my mind and so here we are...

This is a build designed to pressure a Terran opponent using an Immortal/Stalker/Stalker squad to harass.

The opening allows you to get an Immortal and a Warp Prism onto the field incredibly quickly, at a time when the Terran is unlikely to have anything available that counters them, and this should force the Terran to stay on one base. If you can contain them on one base whilst taking your own expansion, and whilst using the Warp Prism to harass their buildings and/or mineral line, you should be able to enter the mid-game at an economic advantage.

This build can be characterised as a cheese as it's unlikely to work if the opponent knows that it's coming early enough and also knows the correct response.

Video

Build Order
  • 12 Pylon
  • 13 Gateway (Chrono Boost Probes after making this)
  • 15 Assimilator (Send the Probe that makes this to scout/proxy)
  • 17 Assimilator
  • 18 Cybernetics Core
  • 19 Proxy Pylon
  • @100% Cybernetics Core: Stalker (Chrono Boost this Stalker)
  • @150 Minerals, 100 Gas: Robotics Facility (Proxy)
  • @100 Minerals: Shield Battery
  • @100% Stalker: Stalker
  • @50 Minerals, 50 Gas: Warpgate Research
  • @100 Minerals: Pylon
  • 27 Cut Probe Production
  • @100% Robotics Facility: Immortal (Chrono Boost)
  • @100% Immortal: Warp Prism (Chrono Boost)
Notes
  • Fill the Assimilator with two Probes when they complete. Do not add a third Probe until you have 16 Probes mining minerals.
  • When sending out the Probe towards the proxy location, scout common proxy Barracks locations along the path that your Probe takes.
  • It can be useful to rally your first Stalker to the Reaper jump-up spot to deny harassment and scouting. If there isn't a Reaper visible then send the Stalker across the map.
  • Use the Stalker/Stalker/Immortal and Warp Prism to pick off the buildings at the Terran's main ramp first. You should almost always be able to get two Supply Depot kills out of this, which can slow down the Terran response considerably if it causes them to become supply blocked.
  • The follow-up is flexible, but expanding and making a Twilight Council is the transition used by GrimReaper in the VODs provided.
Conclusion

PiG's claim that this build can help you beat people who are 1000 MMR better than you is probably a bit of a stretch, even if that's something GrimReaper has definitely done with the build. It would also be a bit of a stretch for me to assert that this build is a solid opening that allows you to play out an expansive macro game after the early pressure is over, even though that's also something that I've seen GrimReaper doing on his streams. But what we can definitely claim is that this build is shock and awe incarnate, and that it's more than capable of swiftly swinging a game in your favour against an unprepared opponent.

Addendum

If you really want to meme your opponent then you can always go with my personal favourite follow-up to this opening, which is to stay on one-base and do a Dark Templar all-in. It's definitely not as solid as expanding, but I do have a lot more fun doing it!

Since the Cyclone was changed so that lock-on is always available, the harassment potential of this build has been somewhat hindered. Cancelling a Cyclone's lock-on using Warp Prism micro was something that this build could previously exploit, but that's no longer possible.

It's still an effective pressure because not everyone opens with early Cyclones, but it's definitely less effective against the many Cyclone openings that have become popular in the current patch.

I've messed with it a bit. I think it's a relatively solid strategy on the maps with a good proxy location.

Just relies on thinning marine count and ideally getting one or two depots to get ahead, then closing out the game by denying stim while trading your zealots for marines and immortals for addons & tanks.

Special's opening is ideal (minus the double bunker) he just played it incorrectly by not starting a starport when he should have (about a minute delayed). Much better to commit to a location and then once the first viking or medivac is out you're stable.
I may appear to be an emotionless sarcastic pos, but just like an onion when you pull off more and more layers you find the exact same thing everytime and you start crying

I tried doing this against Goblin and now I'm content:
