Alex is verbose, and you owe it to yourself (and the rest of us) to read the statement in its entirety. Remember, when making comments/claims to provide proper evidence, facts etc. Arguments based on incorrect assumptions, facts and straw men, will be dealt with swiftly. If in doubt, PM a mod or ask IRC. Do NOT spread misinformation, when in doubt, check your sources. In short, be smart. This response is amazing and exactly what it should be.

It's kind of like if I stole a toy from a grocery store when I was 8. Later in life I work there, and somehow someone finds out that a decade ago I stole a 99cent toy, and I was fired. Sounds ridiculous right?
That's not ridiculous, that's called living a life with consequences for our actions.
As for Alex's response, amazing. Simply amazing. Glad to hear that he is so educated on the manner to handle things in a truly mature way. His response was measured. Stern, yet fair. EG definitely gained some invisible e-points in my book. Not because they fired Orb, but because their response was exactly the correct one. Alex makes reference to a few other incidents in gaming where the community and its leaders did not choose the right path. Now SC2 hits the right points with EG leading that charge. Congrats and cheers.

Probably one of the few smart posts in this thread ~_~

Really sad news. Someone raging in a ladder game shouldn't be taken into account if it was before he was hired. After I could completely understand but this is something nearly everyone is guilty of. Even Idra is guilty of death threats which is worse according to blizz.

I understand why he was released but this has been a retarded unholy crusade against him.
So your saying that someone playing ladder games randomly Who says a word someone else doesn't like they should be burned and shunned like they are sAviOr? I understand from a business aspect he is a public figure and his job is to watch what he says and be charismatic because he is at all times representing the company. The rest of the community really needs to stfu though really your gonna be mad cause he said a bad word? I bet half these people say worse and laugh at everything on 4chan.

Aahahaha, just EG being the corporation it is. Good business move, my inner CEO approves.

I have a feeling if Orb admitted to it and submitted an apology as soon as the accusations were brought up he would've got off lighter, and deservingly so IMO.
I think EG definitely made the correct decision though, but I really feel for them. Like people stated before, it's a complete lose/lose situation for them. They're already getting a ton of flak in this thread for releasing him, and they'd be bound to get probably even more flak if they didn't. Everyone bitching has to understand that they are a professional organization and they have to deal with something like this in a way that sticks with their values whilst saving as much face as possible.

Most, and perhaps nearly all, of the complaints you received were from pitiful people who want to create some entertainment at Orb's expense. A few others were probably from those slugs who masturbate in self-righteousness and take every opportunity to speak out about a cause because it gets them off. Finally, one or two were likely sincere.
You're probably proud of your post. You think it makes you sound smart and enlightened (though you'd rather die than admit it). Yeesh it doesn't. all due respect, I'm sneering.
The thing is, he had to say that even if he didn't believe it (not saying he didn't mean it). Without these whiny little kids he would go out of business, unfortunately. Don't blame Alex, blame the self-righteous slugs.

No matter what your job is, if you lie to your boss chances are your ass is gonna get canned. The thread would have been 15 pages max if Orb had just come out and apologized, but he didn't, and choose to make excuses/try to cover it up.
True, I think if Orb was truthful on the matter he might have kept his job with EG and been only dealt a penalty of some sort. Fact is, Orb knew he was in the wrong and instead of apologizing for his mistake and making amends, explaining how he has changed, he lied and attempted to cover the issue up. That alone shows his employer Orb could not keep their trust to well represent the EG organization.

NONY THROWS DOWN.
Some of the posters here need have this printed and mounted above their bed.

I thought the issue here wasn't all that orb fucked up by calling people niggers, rather that he lied about it to eg staff and the community in general in an attempt to blur his responsibility.
Wouldnt have been nearly as bad if orb just came out and said "sorry it wont happen again" right at the start.

They've been my favourite team, I've got an EG mousepad, and one of the Hoodies and generally watch a lot of the team in general.
That certainly ends today.
This type of caving in to pressure by a loud, vicious minority of people who were hunting, not out of genuine offense, but to cause drama is an incredible display of horrible judgement and a complete lack of loyalty.
I could give two shits about orb...and to be honest, no one could. Nobody REALLY cares about it. It's just something to talk about between events.
Totally selling out an employee to save your own ass, especially while completely tolerating IdrA's...existence, and inviting Destiny onto EG sponsors and produced shows is so hypocritical as to be laughable.
I don't believe a single damn word Alex Garfield said, and his fake offendedness over this word is so ridiculous it's not worthy of any respect. It's the worst type of fake, two-faced holier-than-thou bullshit you can get.
Shove your sanctimonious bullshit and hypocritical policy and fuck off.
Or to quote your Own popular Team Member IdrA: "This Game is Retarded" and "The Game is worse because of Fags like you"
Can I have your mouse pad?
You can when my TL one gets here

I like to believe the same, plus the fact that being positive towards other people is often more rewarding. Call it karma, responsible, whatever, fact is the internet opens up roads to take and monitors where you have been.

This portion of the post alone is causing me to buy an EG jersey.
I will be e-mailing the sponsors listed on EG's site to let them know actions like this have earned a fan for life.

Oh so what about your beloved IdrA saying fag and faggot Alex? Those things happened frequently in the past did they not? He is simply protecting EG's image people, don't let him fool you. I applaude you Alex Garfield for finding a community that is so easily tricked for you to manipulate to make money, or protect it in this case.

To me, it seems like EG are doing this to not only save face but their sponsors. The "delay" seems to me like it only occured because people have only just started to contact their sponsors and the head was being turned up.

Power said that sarcastically, but it really is something people should take to heart. If you are ever in a situation where you are words away from making an enemy, starting an argument, or otherwise acting the fool, you are almost always going to be better off just keeping it to yourself. You never know when your own actions can come back to haunt you, and you would be surprised at how far good manners in a bad situation can get you in life.

He was saying it to other white people. Nigger isnt bad at all.. Its the history of the word and context used that makes someone else interpret it wrong. I hate eg lair players casting. I WONT BE WATCHING MC ANYMORE sorry
