Nestea literally handed every game to Demuslim. If he hadn't, it would have been a clean and easy victory. I suggest you check out MVP vs Ret, too. Inb4 people start saying MVP is bad.

Second, before this patch, I don't think anyone would have dreamed of Ret beating MVP in even 1 game. Third, you need to watch the games to determine how it went down. Either way, watching Nestea vs Demuslim and knowing that any transition into Ultralisks would have flatly won the game was painful to watch. Luckily Nestea threw it.

I'm not trying to claim that MVP played perfectly, or that Ret played badly. I'm claiming that without the Snipe nerf, all of these games would have been less gimmicky and more refined. I've also noticed that nobody in this thread has supplied the compositional answer to BL/Infestor transitioning into Ultra/Ling.

Further, I consider it silly that he never bothered to make Ultras, when they would have been a guaranteed win. I'm not trying to claim that MVP played perfectly, or that Ret played badly. I've also noticed that nobody in this thread has supplied the compositional answer to BL/Infestor transitioning into Ultra/Ling. If it wasn't already obvious... Marine + Tank + Medicvac + Viking + Marauder. The composition has never changed. Listen to Polt's interview. He says he didn't use ghosts that much even before the patch, and he didnt have much trouble. You just can't rely on a single super unit for everything and have to adjust the ratios depending on what you see.

Ghost's unexplored metagame potential by narrowing it to a hard counter to psionic I honestly didn't know what there was to explore about Snipe. It was a flat 45(?) damage before? All you needed to do is make a chart about what it is cost effective against. It's the same right now, just that the list is changed and people may not necessarily like it for obvious reasons

The key to beating it is harrassing in multiple locations with drops, marine-runbys and having a huge spread on the vikings in the final battle. I think it's funny that you took this game as an example. On antiga polt was AHEAD, and played like a GOD, and even then it was way too close. In the other game polt was even more ahead. The game on antiga just showed me how strong broodlord infestor is.

Rather than nerfing Snipe against zerg T3, they have simply cut off the Ghost's unexplored metagame potential by narrowing it to a hard counter to psionic (plus EMP, but I don't think there is much to explore there). I am amazed by how nonchalantly they decided to employ a very wide-affecting method to fix what they felt was a narrow problem. Exactly. Pigeonholed the ghost into only an anti-caster. Ignored very strong combat shield marine and concussive marauder. Less exciting IMO.
