To continue this idea, however, some have thought to fast expand to the GOLD instead of their natural, which seems difficult for your hatch-firsting opponent to punish. What do you think about this idea? Do you think it has any merit? I have tried this myself a few times against another Diamond zerg opponent in customs, but we are obviously both so bad it's difficult to conclude much.

It is very viable to take the gold expansion vs a normal expansion on meta. However, as with all risky openings, there are a few disadvantages. In this specific case, position is the primary concern. Here is a list of common problems that you have to consider, and if you can anticipate what is coming, then it will work: - your drones have a far distance to travel, meaning less minerals for the first few important seconds of the game - you can only build defensive spines at one location, making it impossible to have less army value then your oppoenent, because he can almost always attack you in open space - you larva at one hatch is too far to defend the other hatch, meaning you cannot minimally defend something and have to have enough units out and about already

Almost finished watching the last part of episode 6. I forgot to mention - GJ fixing the sound balance. It is now completely comfortable to listen to and everyone can be heard no problem; that was a big problem in early videos. I also like that in certain big battles you are removing the UI to make it easier to see. I would only warn that this should be used sparingly (just as it is currently), as without the minimap and production menu the spectator is effectively blind.
Keep it up guys, good vids. I still think doing entire episodes based around one matchup and exposing the (sometimes subtle) differences in how the game should be played out as you respond to your opponent would be valuable, but what you're doing right now is still solid work. Seeing high level games and hearing WHY you are doing what you are doing is great for learning.

Thanks for the feedback!
What race would you guys like to see this week if we were to do one match up? I'll add a poll to main thread to see what matchup people want.
|
So have you guys figured out why you guys get way out of sync despite starting sync'd and playing the replay at the same speed?
|
it's most likely because my computer is awesome and David's is SHIT

makes sense

NOOOooooo ZvP is winning the poll! ZvP is easy! I need ZvT! :[

I can't praise this series enough. I am a mid-masters (500 pts) zerg and this type of analysis is exactly what I've been needing to understand some of the high-level decision making and strategy that differentiates top masters/GMs from the high diamond/low masters players.
I would subscribe 1000x if I could.
