To quickly give you a brief feel of what I'll be writing here, it's somewhere along the lines of "Hi, I'm Truls, you can call me Infernux, I suck, my year has been great, some downers, mostly uppers (not talking drugs here, don't worry) and I love you. No-homo for all of you guys out there."
There you go. Starting of with the TL;DR thing so that no one will read what I have to say. I a genious writer, of this I am sure. Now, first and foremostly, most of you don't know me... heck, no one of you knows me. There might be some Norwegian-bottomfeeders here that actually has managed to grab my name from somewhere, but mind you, I'm not by any means e-famous even in Norway.
My name is Truls, or Infernux, as my screen name has been saying since I was 13. I have been a CS-player, not any good, a trackmania nations forever player, decently skilled ... in Norway, a World of Warcraft player, where I actually was one of the top players of my class in 2vs2 arena ... playing as a holy paladin with a Death Knight right after WOTLK came out and I also played in some pretty good guilds in the top 100 department. Now, I play Starcraft 2 and Modern Warfare 3. To summarize, I suck at Starcraft 2, I'm gold/platinum on my main/smurf and I'm a contender for worst sniper ever in my local MW3-clan. So that's me as a gamer. Not good.
But then again, my focus was never gaming entirely. I wanted to be recognized by the community (in Norway) for doing something good, so I started writing news. First for a page called "Catch-Gamer.no" in it's glory days, where I wrote from I was around 14 untill I turned 16, and then for a page called ArcticNova.org which I wrote from I was around 17 untill.. well, still. I've been to Dreamhack two times and The Gathering in Norway 3 times, getting to watch some amazing WoW and SC2-games, and interview some of the most premier players in the world, among those Kruf and Devah from the World of Warcraft-guild Paragon (the best guild in the world).
For me, this is pretty huge. Right now I have TL-shirt hanging on my wall signed by TLO, HerO and Ret. WHAT THE HELL. I love my life. The moment I returned to the press room at Dreamhack I felt joy and sadness. I had signed t-shirts (also one protoss-tee with White-Ra's signature) but I also made the mistake of being a fanboy-reporter. Nevertheless, my love for ESPORTS keep on moving.
This year has been great. I'm not going to go into detail. I was a russ this year, if you don't know what it is, it's the Norwegian grad-students way of partying 17 days in a row. Google it! I got into the military school I wanted (yeah, I'm in the army, bummer), which is the The Norwegian Defence University College of Engineering - Telematics, where I'm a aspiring to be an engineer in the Norwegian Army. ESPORTS has also been taking of. This warms my heart in so many ways guys! I love it.
Now, sad things have happened this year. Utøya, Norway. Two of my friends, not close, but friends nevertheless, perished that day due to one mans hate for muslims in Norway. Well, screw him. Now, bad manner aside, what WE HAVE HERE, in ESPORTS, at TeamLiquid, a broad community featuring whites, blacks, ... you know what, featuring HUMANS ... it's beautiful. I love this community. This community managed to get me in mood for Christmas. First time in years. This community ligthens my day whenever I'm down, it helps my improve my play and general lifestyle and it helps me be a better person (and a better gamer, thanks Day[J]).
I love you guys.
Now, please help me out.
I need something as a ... new years ... something. I don't know what to call it, and I make a habit of trying to guess my way into words rather than google-translating them. Now, Norwegians kall it "forsett", it's something you say you will improve or just do (or quit) when the new year arrives. I want you guys to decide what that thing is gonna be for me. But, there's a few rules. For one, it has to benefit ESPORTS. Number two, it cannot in any way, shape or form (thanks TB) be illegal. And then, it has to be something manageable. That's it.
Guys, summa summarum, 2011 has been great. Lets make the year 2012 "The Year of ESPORTS"!
Are you with me?
