Fixed that one for you.

What's wrong with a team picking a player based on looks? Being pretty wouldn't be treasured by everyone if looks didn't matter.

Then why aren't i on a team? Your theory is flawed.
Unless... My mother was wrong and im not the most handsome man around?
I think it is awesome there are girls getting press. More power to them. They are under represented in gaming, and anything that helps fix that imbalance is good.

Marketability, stability, dedication, exposure and also play. You think Quantic picked up Destiny purely because of his play? Not likely. Or EG is keeping InControl because his amazing performances as of late? No. All of which are good players, but that is not the sole..sometimes not even the main purpose for them being on a their teams.
So, if a diamond player shows the kind of dedication, stream numbers, marketability and exposure that Julia does we will be more than happy to consider him/her for the team..and I am sure many others would as well.
and thats exactly the point of where i hate the direction esports is going. casters, personalities make a much more stable living then the players that try hard and just dont have that extra umph for marketing to actually get what they need to succeed.
though i understand why they are needed, but im completely lost on how to obtain these. as they cant be achieved with dedication or trying to be a nice guy.
take me for example, my big goal is to eventually get on a big team, get practice partners and eventually do something, however i will never do that without a stable practice environment. all i have is dedication, i dont have marketability or stream numbers as i cant get that following to grow, without some special quality. dedication is all i have. meaning dedication only places me in awkward situations where i get partial success in online events, finishing like top 12 in two ttesports challenges etc. Just enough to go "hey, im here,im competing at a fairly high level but not getting anything out of it"... Dedication of practicing 8 to 10 hours a day will only take me so far, especially when its a waste of practice time mostly laddering and becoming frustrated with the lack of success i get, and the lack of stability my life has, which in turn hurts my play drastically. depressed say hello to a 15 game losing streak and poor results.
and in this community there is very little hope for someone outside of all the loops to actually succeed with dedication alone. It just seems most of those qualities are completely luck based on happening to be found and getting that jump start.
nothing against julia she is a nice person, ive just been so meh personally lately i felt like writing an epic post to help get somethings off my mind personally after reading yours.

I must have clicked the "please convert my post to sexist drivel" check box by accident. Sorry!

You go gurl! Representing Vancouver community!

This makes me laugh so hard, mostly because AlexCMoi is actually right, he's been to more than one MLG's, had some decent performances, and he's on a 3rd rate team, INF if i remember correctly, now i'm all for women in E-Sports, but lets be honest they have to be good, I doubt it's that hard to find a relatively attractive "marketable" girl for a team to pick up who is high masters at least.
Until i started randoming I was a 400 point masters protoss on the NA ladder(ie nothing special at all), Yes i certainly don't have the dedication to the game she may have, but in some respects that's worse. I'm part way through the interview because i'm curious, but when there is a girl that i'm confident I could beat in a bo 5 or bo7 or bo9 or whatever, I don't think skill is the primary factor, and the way to make women be respected in this community is not by picking them up because they are "marketable"
I just think that unless she becomes amazing, and who knows maybe she will, if not though, i think checksix is doing a disservice to the game and the overarching concept of E-Sports and women in E-Sports
This isn't a knock on Julia, I'm sure she's a great person but diamond... come on x6

I've watched her stream before and she's pretty funny and chilled out, the guys on there are a laugh. I think this is great for check6, it adds a social aspect to their representation, which is good for teams, like EG with SOTG and incontrol being a community figure. I think all the teams need people there who will connect with the community and I can see Julia doing this for x6

I just copy pasted my post from reddit. Too many players had breakthrough at MLG and they get no exposure. Players like vile state or vile illusion had no interviews and they got really far in the chapiomship bracket.
the ends justify the means in securing the future of female gamers in sc2. i guess.

Some of these posts make me worried about this community and people wonder why there aren't more female gamers.

? Destiny just has a thing where his lower jaw moves horizontally when pronouncing some words, Julia has a minor lisp thats all, completely different things.

Great that girls/julia are getting exposure...but like many I am wondering...where are the vile illusion interviews huh? It's fine to promote girl gaming, but when you see a random diamond gamer getting all of this attention solely because she is a girl (which is basically what this is) you have to wonder...
Basically, if julia were a random guy diamond do you think she would be getting all this attention? Nope.
I'm all for girl SC2 gamers, but how about jumping on the interview/media bandwagon when you get a very successful masters/GM girl that does something worthy of getting all this attention or competes in some huge event (like the divina tournament thing), not just doing it because the girl happens to obviously be beautiful...which is basically the only reason julia is getting all this attention...
so yeah...WHERE ARE THE VILE ILLUSION INTERVIEWS HUH? I'm just echoing desrow on this, as well as others i'm sure. There are a lot of huge fucking open bracket heroes and others that are way more deserving of interviews/all of this attention...
