Here we go again. This weekend is about good games and good fun. Don't rain on that parade. Play nice guys. Here's the very standard and friendly:
- NO Balance Whine. - NO Player Bashing. - NO Caster Bashing. - NO BM whatsoever.
Breaking these rules (from pg 166 forward) will be met with severe punishment. |

you just hate koreans that's all.
Actually, the top players aren't even playing sc2 in korea. Huk and Nani has had some success sure, but they are only a few people that can compete with Koreans atm.
And korea is one country, god forbid they lose.
why are you only bringing up Koreans, when in the crowd I saw a bunch of non Koreans booing Naniwa?

I was there every day, and the crowd loved him until the replay/map issues/thumbs down event. It left a bad taste in a lot of people's mouths as a dishonorable thing to do (even if it didnt break rules). He got booed next to Huk, his first match after that, but he won those games fair and square and most of the crowd was back on his side. From there on out his excellent play got all cheers as far as I can tell. He didn't seem phased, and as having a good time as showing the strongest Protoss play of the entire tournament.
Lighten up, the event was great.

Heat of the moment man you see shit like that all the time with everyone else. Naniwa is no different. It only makes him human, so I wouldn't keep picking at that bone. you see people sneaking peeks at replays to figure out what build the opponent is using? since when? This is really an hot potato if what StarStruck posted is true. This sneakypeaky at high level WoL, is it actually something common? Seems like some huge news. Are you a whistle blower, or maybe you were referring to something else? Multiple people confirmed that Naniwa pulled up the replay of a game that was restarted (g3 v Nestea on Shak) due to it starting when on a commercial break. The replay that showed him what? The post-game screen shows build-orders anyway. Yeah so? The point is that he was the cause of restarting the game and that people calling Leenock punishing Naniwa's greed "dishonourable" is ridiculous considering what Naniwa did to Nestea. What did he do? Please elaborate on your accusations. There's a thread about it where an MLG official, I'm pretty sure it was Adam, gives his version of events and explains why he absolutely doesn't think Naniwa did anything wrong. It's in very great detail, I recommend anyone who thinks Naniwa is a cheater doesn't talk about it until they have read it. Oh he is definitely not a cheater. He broke no rules other than possibly badmouthing MLG (which by interpretation can be a technical) You have to break rules to be a cheater. So what's the problem? :/ What did Nani do dishonourably? If people are going to call punishing a build dishonorable then how is that not dishonorable? The only reason it wasn't an issue cause there was not enough info. He could've been using unfair information to change the game. The intent is what matters. The intent was dishonorable.
The point I'm making is that the Nani fans are just being sore losers.
Naniwa did nothing illegal and he beat Nestea fairly. But calling what Leenock did cheap and dishonorable is ridiculous. Especially with what Naniwa was probably intending to do.

You know, i usually would never approve of something like booing a player on stage, it's just something you should never ever even consider. BUT, as someone who followed wc3 before sc2 and knowing naniwa for years now, i have to admit that he was the one player besides idra (sorry but giving the finger to someone you lost against is just sad .... yea yea lots of people will defend him now whatever) who would actually deserve something like that. Even if you put aside the replaywatching thing and calling nestea's move "idiotic" naniwa has a disrespectful and unlikable personality (or at least used to). There was a reason he was kicked out of like 4 teams in wc3 alone.
Still thinking someone doesn't deserve to win, and actually showing up at the event and booing him.... that's too far, I don't approve.
Ah and to those who compare it to booing in other sports, don't you find it disgusting in those sports as well? just because it's happening doesn't mean it should, and the constant booing and whistling (is that the right word in this context?) in for example soccer are actually destroying much of otherwise excellent atmosphere.

When was the last time Idra got booed?
I ask only because he very publicly called ESWC a joke tournament among other things recently. Yet his cheers are often loudest of all...
According to Slashers twitter, Naniwa was hurt by the crowd booing him, and I don't know maybe it's all the human empathy I have lying around but it seems to me that going out of your way to try and make a guy feel like shit when he going for what could have been the biggest tournament win of his career is a dick move.

Feel like this is being extremely overlooked. I feel like you are forgetting a few thing 1. He did not have that 25,000 at this point in time 2. ANY mistake/error vs the absolute top of the worlds elite could very very possibly cost him exactly 25,000 or even 50,00$ I though agree that it seemed a bit hasty and harsh. But at the same time he does speak his mind and don´t you agree that you would have been pretty angry if this happened when you had that amount of pressure on you?
I agree, but the pressure has to be assumed if he wishes to continue as a professional gamer. Biting the hand that feeds in front of a crowd had its consequences, and Naniwa, someone well versed in this kind of pressure, accepted those by doing so.
Even Idra doesn't do this kind of thing in any of the high tier tournaments.

See I actually check I know what I'm talking about before I, you know, talk about it.
EDIT: Oh and I don't know what foreigner tunnel vision is but I can assure you that if it was Leenock or any other Korean being booed I would be saying the exact same thing.

I actually think this tournament proved that foreigners are no match. Reasons? I think Nestea's loss to Naniwa was a fluke. I just can't explain wtf he was doing using those builds. Might be affected by alleged shit-talking.
Huk was picked apart by Naniwa, horribly. That kind of shows how good he is facing tough opponents where it's not a thought-out BO win. And both Naniwa and Huk just seemed sloppy compared to koreans.
Idra was rolled by Leenock, not even close. I don't know who else deserves to even be in this conversation. The gap is huge.
|
Well MLG has already stated that nani didn't cheat, and he has already cleared things up with nestea. It'll just take some time now to people read the posts that prove what I just said and then the haters will be minority.
Nani is the dragon killer btw, beating mvp and nestea twice, beating huk, beating DRG. I hope he can do better in korea now, he has the potential, he just proved it to us today.
