So back in April I broke my foot. I ended up needing to have surgery on it for the bone to heal properly. I had surgery back on May 6th 2011. During my surgery they attempted to screw the bone back together and it "shattered" (that word makes it sound much worse than it was) the bone where the screw entered. Long story short the doctor inserted some metal wires in my foot to hold the bone in place and ordered me to bed rest.
I was told if I walked on it or kept too much pressure on it and didn't keep it elevated as much as possible it could cause complications and I would potentially need to go in for a second surgery.
I was crushed. Bed rest meant no SC2. I could watch, but not play. /sadpanda
Before my surgery I was near the top of my diamond league and was on my way to breaking the barrier into masters. Being on bed rest sucked. After 5 weeks in bed and another month of not being able to sit comfortably at my computer for any amount of extended time, I came back to SC2. I had over a 1k bonus pool when the seasons swapped.
I lost heart and haven't laddered much since. Before S4 started I played some and I was up against a lot of plat. level players. My MMR tanked HARD being on bedrest and then not playing a lot when I could again. I feel like I'm not even as close to as good as I used to be and it's very discouraging. I log on bnet frequently intending to ladder and after I play a warmup game against AI and I end up logging off in frustration.
I really want to get back to mass gaming and finish my push to masters league but I got set back so far by being on bed rest I find it hard to hit that Find Match button.
Bleh.
(Just wanted to vent on an outlet fellow SC2 players could read. Non-gamers seem to not get it when I try to explain how frustrating it is.)

5 month absence is no excuse for losing to platinums. In this case that's where you actually belong atm. I don't see what the problem is, just play?

lol i was almost hitting masters. i didnt watch/play starcraft for 5 months. came back for s4 and i lost to plats/low diamonds for a week. just mass game until mechanics come back, you'll be top diamond easily. (i am now)

Didn't say I was losing to plat's, just was matched up against them because my MMR tanked. Again, I'm just venting, it's kinda the point of a blog.

I broke my collar bone back in December last year, before the injury I was in Diamond, Now I play Dota. See what injury does to you :o

Not sure you couldn't help your MMR tanking during bedrest. I rarely, if ever, play these days due to a horrendous lack of motivation and although my APM is around 21, I have enough knowledge and game sense to retain my league. Just learn stuff as opposed to practicing and you could have not just held diamond but also probably made it into masters. You could've also done stuff like keeping the timings of making probes in your head by using timers or something. That said, past is past and nothing sucks more than a slump. Especially since you almost made it to masters. Hope that you can get back to diamond again.

I also broke my collar bone about 10 years ago when I was 16, and I took the sling off the first day, threw my arm up on the desk, and played 8hrs of SC/BW per day for a full week. An injury is what you make of it ^^

An injury is what you make of it ^^ Bullshit. I don't believe you broke collar bone, maybe you broke your arm or shoulder. I couldn't get out of bed by myself for 3 days. My brother would lift my back and neck and help me out of bed so I could piss/shit and shower. I had morphine(didn't kill the pain), I had Tramadol 3x a day, still pain was fucked. Only release was sleep which thankfully Tramadol caused drowsiness which helped.
I tried to play Starcraft 5 days after the break. I couldn't handle even playing for 5mins. Shit was unbearable.
IDK how you broke your collar bone, but mine was done while Snowboarding down this stupid artificial hill (http://snowplanet.co.nz/)
Went too fast from the top of the hill, and tried to stop. Ended up flying head first and doing a massive should tackle to the hard snow/ice(there were patches of bad snow + Plus it feels more like sand than snow in texture).
Yeah, you broke something else, or you broke your collar bone very lightly, so as to actually not cause bone to nerve contact.
Anyways: Aruno does not recommend breaking your collar bone. That shit is bad.
