When I first began playing Starcraft 2 I was a complete noob. Having little to no experience in the RTS genre I entered the magnificent world of Starcraft. I started by playing a little bit of SC1 (not even Broodwar just SC1). I mainly played fastest but regardless I wasn't very good. I eventually started playing SC2 in the beta and was of course a bronze leaguer. Beta round two came and all of my practice in bronze league got me up to the silver league. Once SC2 got released Season 1 I was Gold league, Season 2 I was Platinum and mid season 2 I became Diamond and I was that for season 3 as well. Ever since the masters league has come out it has been my goal to reach it. To even be in the same league as some of the greatest players in this game would be awesome and it would feel great to be a part of the masters league. For a while this goal seemed impossible and I had seen numerous people starting blogs explaining that they were going to get into masters and most players responses were, "that's a bit unreachable of a goal." or "Try and be more realistic." I'm not disagreeing with these comments for these people because when you're in gold league you should focus on getting to Platinum not masters. But ever since I was in Platinum and the Masters league came out it was my goal to get there. Now I am coming so close. I play masters league players at least 50% of the time in my ladder games and I am able to take games off of them. I feel like soon I am finally going to be able to make the leap from Diamond to Masters and join their ranks.
I know to some they feel like masters isn't really a big deal but to me it is. Since I don't really play competitive SC2 (yet) the ladder is my main challenge and getting into Masters league will be a big milestone for me. I just felt the need to share my excitement with the community and I have also attached one of my most recent replays of me beating a Top 50 ranked Masters Protoss (quite handily I thought). http://www.sc2replayed.com/replay-videos/15075
Hopefully I can make another blog soon sharing the good news of promotion. Wish me Luck

Interesting story! I got Starcraft 2 at the end of season 2 (wow was getting boring). i had never played an RTS i honestly didn't know what it stood for at the time. I was in bronze and silver for season 2, then season 3 and i am in gold, all through the ladder lock i improve drastically only getting plats and diamonds. Season 4 and i get plat. I win 2 matches and now im happily in Diamond. I share the smae goal of getting into masters it will be amazing! if you want to play some practice games or something add me Spray. 699(and know i didnt mean for my id to be like that, happened on mistake :p)

awesome man! i just now got a computer that is decent enough to run SC2 and i got placed into diamond ( I played a TON at my friend's house though, so it wasn't super unexpected). Hopefully I will meet you in masters some day, until then gl hf!

Masters is my goal too. GL HF! See you there!

I started with no rts experience at release of starcraft 2, placing bronze, and now I'm mid masters. Just hang in there bud and you'll get there in no time.

I think most people that says it isn't a big deal is either ridiculously lucky/talented at sc2(lucky as in having friends in masters league to practice with and such) or like me they have been playing broodwar 1v1 on iccup for like an eternity before sc2 and therefore started out with most of the skills needed anyway. For someone to go from bronze to masters is a great achievement to be proud of imo good luck!

I reckon Masters is a great goal to work for. Personally I'm still reaching for diamond... Started in Season 1 as Silver and worked my way up to Platinum so far... Still, haven't got nearly as much time as I'd like and I think that's what's holding me back. All in good time I hope
