Game seems fairly unbalanced atm (snipers are totally ass useless for example), pretty much the only decent classes are one with a spinfusor Though vs noobs its totally hilarious to shoot homing rockets all day and then use the chaingun when they try to get close edit: didn't realise sniper rifle was hitscan LOL. Totally imbalanced | ||

Will probably stream some more today/this week. Keep in mind that I'm absolutely garbage And yeah, classes without spinfusors feel useless to me, I've pretty much only been using the ones with it. | ||

Base assets are useless. Its faster to suicide into a new suit than to hit up an inventory station. It doesn't matter if your gens are up or down. They'll repair themselves too. 'Baserape' consists of shooting your discs at the turrets. Inventory stations do not regenerate health. The only way to get health is to wait for the health regen to kick in, which never happens if you have the flag. It feels like you're floating through jello constantly. Speed caps are a lazy fix to poorly developed class mechanics. Jet strength is comparable across all classes, so you can get the same distance/altitude in light as a med/heavy. Only difference is light armors regen is faster (but slow as hell). Its impossible to get moving from a stand still because of the overall weak jet thrust and a lack of forward jetting. The only 'mobility' benefit from playing a light is that it reaches faster velocities traveling down hill. There are very few hills in the game that lights can benefit from this. Other than that, light classes have a weaker version of the spinfuser, can get 1-shotted by other classes' spinfuser, so not only do you have less health/armor for a poor trade off of mobility, your weapons aren't nearly as strong. If you're in light and stop moving at all, whether its the 6+ ppl on the flag stand (only D needed), a terrain defect or a tree/ random rock/object in the way, you're pretty much dead. The class system is poorly implemented. They stated they wanted to get away from the 'standard loadout' (which i'm guessing was disc/chain/X). Now you've got just discs. The other weapons are like secondaries in modern shooters. Sort of rushed through this I have to go, but this is the basis of the problems. There is a hidden beta forum for those in the beta and solid chunk of the posts are about these issues. It seems their plan to fix this isn't to make an overall change to the game, but to make a 'competitive mode' where its basically just a different game. As of now, stay in cash. Its not worth playing. | ||

tec27 already quoted the important changes, but for anyone wanting to see the full post, see below: + Show Spoiler + While the dates may move around some based on our internal testing, the next patch to Tribes Ascend is planned toward the end of this coming week (Thursday or Friday). We are trying to squeeze in as much as we can to this next patch. While more is currently planned, here are some of the items that have already been coded and are in the testing phase. -Increase speed at which experience points are gained (This was actually hot-fixed into the game through a server restart on Nov 6). -Remove speed cap. Implement various falling, skiing, and jetpack physics changes. -Projectiles inherit more velocity from the shooting player. -Adjusted flag throwing physics to improve throwing in specific directions. -New tooltips for Skills and redesigned layout for the Skills popup window. -Added two-step process for selecting both class perks at the same time. -Different colored chat for same team vs enemy team. -Fix for zoom breaking if zoom was enabled while a player died (this only happened when the -Toggle Zoom feature was enabled). -Fix a number of issues with Settings menu and saving settings. -Help text ignores are now properly saved. -Fixed post process effects persisting to the main menu when disconnected from a match -Fixed hit indicator being on the opposite side for the back side hits. -Fixed mipping issues on many hand models as well as the spinfusor and sniper rifle -Separated input release time and animation time from inventory stations. -Fixed bug with call-in cooldown not behaving properly. -Added the synching of PID-loop state between client/server for Shrike. This should lower server correction and possibly eliminate the “death blossom.” -Allow re-selections of Perks that player has already assigned to a character. -Fixed bugs with wrong popup windows, lost button events and wrong buttons visible in different states. -Store redirects to purchase gold from store when not enough gold on player to purchase classes. -Fixed an issue where context help messages would not disappear if the player died near an object showing help text. -Improved projectile behavior for Raider’s NJ4SMG, Infiltrator’s Nova Colt, and Doombringer’s Chaingun. -Fixed an issue where the health regen effect would cancel the jammer pack effect. -When a player enters an inventory station, they begin health regen immediately. -Support for “Borderless Window” option. Removes border from window (best use is to run at monitor’s full-screen resolution -- allows for faster Alt-Tabbing in aand out of the game). -Brand New Rabbit Map -Several server-side fixes for stability, etc. | ||

Finally, there's an option in the game that spawns players in a default loadout (by default the soldier) just like legacy tribes. Bases are pretty freaking important yo. | ||

I agree with your base assets thing, i honestly haven't used the inventory station once yet. There's a petition going on in the beta forum to reinstate the default starting class in which everyone will then head over to the inventory to get their loadout. Hopefully they listen to us on the changes to the repair gun right now, as it stands, the generator will repair itself over time which is stupid imo. the jello feeling..i completely agree with, vengeance gave me the same jello feeling at the time. I think this is mainly in part due to the lack of thrust/jet acceleration from the jetpack, hopefully those "tweaks" mentioned in the patch notes include a higher thrust rate. This has been petitioned on the forum since alpha. it's good to see they revamped the flag throwing to be like before, the way it was now was honestly counter productive otherwise, i'm definitely in agreement with your points, they're not enough from downright stopping me from enjoying the game but they do feel handicapping for older players like us who have had a lot of experience with the past tribes games. | ||

Holy crap the commentator on that game is amazing. I've never played it but I'm really interested now, high-skill multiplayer games are rare these days, hopefully the new tribes game will live up to the competitive scene. Hopefully they make improve obs mode so its a lot easier to see what's going on. | ||
