Yes, he hasn't had any major tournament results, but hashe is still a top NA grandmaster terran.... Plus the guy is super active, he is streaming nearly every night for 4+ hours. Please re feature Hashe
THIS.
I constantly see him with at least 300 viewers. Not to mention that he's a top 50 grandmaster. He has great activity and constantly talks with his chat. Excellent streamer. I'd really be upset if I now had to scan for his stream or if this were to stop him streaming as much. Please put him back on featured.
Is there anyway you could implement a system where you select who you wanted to have featured along with who TL personally feels should be featured?

I think it was a correct decision to get rid of low-viewer-count streamer, this together with the addition of race symbols will make the streaming sidebar a lot better. On the other hand you should really look into some cases, for example de-featuring KimSungJe is not a good idea for obvious reasons.

The issue with this system is that it's a blanket standard. Each 'scene' in esports has it's own community, and it's preferred "top people to watch". In 1v1, just to throw out an example, it's the pros, the high end casters, etc. Your Day9 and Destiny that bank 5k-10k viewers a pop.
Then you have other communities, like 2v2, that pretty much ONLY has Protech as it's "featured professional" with 150-300. LeagueofLegends, has some members in it that hold solid 400-600. But that's limited.
I understand that your trying to keep "accessability" working by taking the standard to 300 viewers, but I think your categories should be expanded to having "featured individuals" within each e-sports scene instead of basing it as a "global average". Going back to the 2v2 example... you're not only cutting Protech from the stream from the example.. but your ENTIRE 2v2 scene's existence from being featured at all... I think your SC2 category would need to be split a bit more to help understand individuals being featured.
By setting up a standard that tends to each "scene", including SUBSCENES within an individual game, it becomes a standard that is adaptable for the future (not just today) as esports changes and evolves. There may be days that you add new "esports sections" to the other esports section and you can't expect those to possibly meet a blanket standard.
TL;DR JIST: Create "categories" of esports and set a standard for each, this is an example of how it can adapt into the future:
SC2 - 1v1 Professional Practice - 500+ viewer average SC2 - 1v1 Entertainment/Coaching - 300+ viewer average SC2 - 2v2 Professional Practice - 150+ viewer average BW - (Haven't been following numbers) League of Legends - 400+ viewer average DOTA 2 - (don't know the numbers) Other - 100+ average (this would be the sketchpad artists for example, things not covered)
By doing this, you can adjust the numbers PER SCENE based on it's overall popularity and try to keep a "top teir" approach for each. This way if the top tier of viewership for one scene changes, the other scene is not removed. It also works out for future issues that may arise, such as having "LOTV" streams, "HOTS" streams, and "WOL" streams.
EDIT: This will remove the need to "look into some cases", cause the reason that "exceptions should exist to this rule" is because of the nature of the current system. ANOTHER major point is that this will allow eventual further customization of the side bar to your interests. You can set you're streams to be the categories that you TRULY want to see featured by making them more specific, and therefore, more customizable. Some people don't care about 2v2, some do. Some don't care about watching pros practice while others just want SOLID interaction with the audience. Being able to cater to the individuals regarding this will help esports foster even more in TL.net

ProTech unfeatured? =( He seemed to average 200-350 viewers and he is one of the best 2s players around. Plus his team won the PTSL, so he does have notable achievements - there just aren't a lot for 2s. There are no team game streamers now. I know I can just go find him in non-featured, but that list is pretty long... Can you review this next time the featured list is looked at? Thank you!!

Seriously why dont you add a feature so we can customize the streamers we want to watch. I don't give a shit about all these zergs, terrans players..i want MOAR Protoss but you demoted good ones. FFS

I'm with people who think ProTech shouldn't be removed. He's the only one good 2v2er who streams regularly, has results (winner of PTSL season 2, more than 1 account/team in world top10 random and nonrandom 2v2), interacts with fans and has decent viewer count. Removing him, you will pretty much remove teamgames and I think there are more people like me who like to watch them.

i personally would like to see megumixbear featured again, she seems to average ~300 of or so live viewers even while being non-featured. her streams that are saved on justintv are often ~1000-2000 viewers. Often i see pros on her stream 2v2ing with her as well. But, i guess her skills aren't as high as other players as she's only master compared to the pros. i wonder if there will be a feature (or 1 that exist, and i dont know about), where a person can bookmark specific streams on TL and have it show up on the side as personal preference

Attero should be featured. I'm not sure if hours were considered, but Attero is the highest level Protoss that regularly streams in hours that are watchable for people tht have jobs and live in the eastern part of north America.
if you live in NY, DC, phili, or Boston and get out of work at around 7-8 pm, Attero is the only GM toss who streams at a time you can watch. I understand the site probably has a student bias, since studends are more able to post on forums or dedicate the time to go pro, but those of us with jobs support the community in our own way. Please give some thought to ensuring that there is quality featured content at a time we can watch.
Thanks!

You are such an idiot. No constructive criticism in your first post and asking for an already available feature in the second... Check: http://www.teamliquid.net/mytlnet/sidebars.php

Team and Organization Streams
We have also de-featured team streams as they were all receiving very few viewers. This was because almost all players who would draw lots of viewers on a team stream already have their own personal featured stream. We see the featured stream section as a list of notable, quality streamers – not as a vehicle to make players more popular.
Similarly, we will be de-featuring organizations that do not produce large amounts of non-calendared content. This is because they almost always attach themselves to events on the calendar. For example, we have de-featured dreamhackTV, as they do not produce content outside of the actual DreamHack events, which are always on the calendar.
Sorry if I sound stupid here but I really don't get this .
If IEM/NASL or DreamHack have an event all the event streams will still be shown on the sidebar right? The only thing you do here is to take away their possibility to automatically be featured when they have not added to the calender?
If it is so I wonder why MLG_Live is not on the de-feature list - what kind of outside content do they provide which is not on the calendar?

Killer is featured as well and not showing up on the sidebar

DBS should be featured, really.

this whole thread seems like a pain.
it seems like the best way to satisfy the majority and quiet most of the complaints is to have a set criteria for streamers.
i.e. to be featured, you must have either: -qualified for an IEM -qualified for IPL main tournament -made it to the MLG championship bracket -be in code S/code A -etc. OR - average >200 viewers regularly
that eliminates about half of the "but _______ should/shouldn't be featured" and "why is ______ featured, and ______ not?". the rest, the admins can determine on a case-by-case basis, but a system like that would eliminate a lot of the work.
also, this helps the streamers, because if people want them featured, they'll start watching their streams.
or put in a feature that allows everyone to customize their own "featured stream" list, and the streams that show up the most on those lists would be the global "featured streams"
edit: also, please refeature megumixbear. i found it accidentally while it was still featured, and unlike so many other streamers, she gives great commentary as she plays, while playing at a really high level. shes one of the few people to play regularly and sponsor her own monthly tournaments, both of which are streamed. she also plays team games on the same level as "top pros" and keeps up with them. while she doesnt have the same results as other featured, the quality of her stream and her personality should earn her a feature on TL
also, why was she featured before and why was she unfeatured?

Hashe should be refeatured as stated above he attracts a good amount of viewers and is very active in talking to and answering stream viewers questions. He may not have any major tournament results be he is a top na terran who streams hours daily.

I'll leave it here in spoilers in case I'm mistaken. + Show Spoiler +So I can't see anything suggesting that the TotalBiscuit situation has been resolved so I'd like to suggest he be refeatured. Although he's not listed in any of the "removed" lists I'm assuming, rightly or wrongly, that he has in fact been defeatured owing to his post in the changes thread. On November 01 2011 21:41 TotalBiscuit wrote: Not happy about losing featured stream status and not being told why. In case he has been, I don't see how he could not qualify at least under the "Other" category. First thing, he's a well known caster, even appearing in the sites news pages and sponsered threads at the moment. He certainly averages a decent number of viewers and provides a lot of content, and it doesn't get disqualified under the "calender event" clause either. Whilst not SC2 related he was holding 20,000 viewers over the weekend, and whilst that may be an extreme example it's not uncommong for him to have a significant number of viewers and that is almost entirely down to his notability as a figure in the community. I don't think TB himself would argue that he's popular because of being the most skillful player in the world but he's a talented caster who consistently puts out high quality broadcasts. In your site changes thread there are two requirements for "Other" which are listed as: On November 01 2011 16:02 Liquid`Nazgul wrote: "Other" Category 1. Notability 2. Content (ie not just rebroadcasts, or pre-event viewer building)
As per my post I think it'd be hard to argue he doesn't easily meet both of these requirements as well as also maintaining high viewer count and exceptional quality. Therefore if TotalBiscuit/Shoutcraft is currently not featured, he should be. If this is a misunderstanding and he actually is featured...cool, I appologise for the wasted post.
Don't worry, Nazgul just posted saying it's been sorted out. I'd imagine it's pretty hard to redo the massive streamer list and not lose a couple through the cracks here and there, no harm done!

It's a mistake to defeature Sterling, Hashe, and ThisIsJimmy! Please reevaluate your defeatured streamers.

You kick regulars like Phoenix or Fuzer and many others in the face with this new regulation. They have always arround 500 viewers and put a lot of time into streaming and they do really well in the daily cups. Can you please tell me why you remove them but leave merz and the zenex team in the list?
Stop calling me out when you know nothing about my situation. If it were up to me I would stream a few hours every day at least, but it's not that easy at the time being. Maybe I don't deserve to be on the list, maybe I do, but I feel like i've contributed to TL net in the past (BW days) and whenever I can I try to stream and talk/interact with my viewers, answer questions in the chat and so on. EDIT: Also by your logic, you should call out 40% of that list.
sorry i just picked you as an example. I apology if i offended you. Not according to my logic but according to the guidelines by tl, this list should look completely different. I think it was good before but because of the tl + twitch partnership every pro has to use twitch to be noticed.
really sad that tl gives twitch a monopol by that

It looks like a few of the featured streamers haven't been showing up because they weren't flagged correctly. Pro7ect is fixed now.
