It's unfortunate that it's had to turn out this way. It's unfortunate that a series of events turned out this way. It's unfortunate that sometimes a part of the community isn't how we want it to be. Don't let this kill your love for E-Sports. If you don't want to contribute this way any more because you can't take it, then don't. I quit LR. I don't regret it. But I still love E-Sport. Don't lose that love. Just enjoy it the way you want to. Not the way people tell you to.

Saying the only legit eSport is BW is effectively shitting on every other gaming community out there.

That's why people were offended. Not only that, but it seems as if he simply didn't know about any scene except Starcraft. I mean, he may not have intended to hurt other people, but when you post something as controversial as this, you have got to do your research and you've got to be delicate about it. He should've gotten a second opinion on that post before writing it. Or at least he should've reread it twenty times before posting it and asked himself, "Could I possibly be hurting anyone here with my words?" He easily could've just said: "BW is the best spectator sport and here is why." And he wouldn't have gotten as much backlash for it, because it's a damn good spectator sport, and I don't think anyone can argue with that. One problem with his argument is that unlike a cat or elephant the term "e-sport" doesn't have an exact definition and it can mean a lot of different things to a lot of different people. Perhaps Milkis' view of e-sports is something that can be considered culturally significant. If that is his view his entire post wouldn't be wrong because it is true that BW is the only game to have reached that level of acceptance. DJwheat meanwhile believes that "e-sport" is just another way to define competitive gaming, which can mean anything. Does that mean as long as a game is competitive a game is an e-sport? In my opinion it doesn't. While Milkis' message was overly harsh and viewed as negative to a lot of people I don't believe his opinion is wrong in anyway.

Yes he did. The fact that there are so many people out there who are offended is proof of this. Intention means nothing when you've hurt people. It doesn't give you a clean slate, it doesn't somehow make the "offense" any less of an offense. He made an ill-informed post and is paying for it.

It's kind of hilarious how people can be. All over a single opinion. It's kind of hilarious how people can be. All over a single opinion. It's kind of hilarious how people can be. All over a single opinion. This is one thing in your blog that is very true. Absolutely hilarious. Except change 'single opinion' to 'the opinion of a bunch of trolling online faggots.'

Milkis works hard and wants the best for our so called 'community' and yet people shit on him and his work. If what he says is true, i will miss him - but i completely agree with every single word in the original post.

But regardless, if you are going to say something with a vague air of authority on a very contentious topic, you are going to have to expect criticism. Isn't this the crux of the matter? It doesn't even matter if he's right or wrong. He did ask for it, and he responded to the inevitable criticisms in a really bad way. I dunno what he was thinking.

[–]Justice1206 2 points 1 hour ago It's easy to shrug off comments on the internet when your identity is hidden behind a username. For Milkis, his true identity is being revealed, and thus his pride as well. To insult him online is the same as insulting him in person. Continue to hide behind your username and say how easy it is to shrug off insults that are directed to your alternate self. Something to think about.

We love you! <3 :D You even have a fan club. Whenever you're feeling down, just take a look at it. If you're being weary of the idiots who are complaining, tell us and we'll make you feel better. Don't listen to those few people. You do so much, I'm really grateful. Live translations, helping players, having players interact with us in one or the other way, translating korean reactions etc. and being a boss. People that haven't been to live events (multi-day ones even more so) don't know how tiring it is, especially when you have things to do. Cheers.

He was saying very specific things about what makes e-sport a "sport". He wasn't saying "you're not an e-sport, fuck off". Until other games pack stadiums for 10 years with players' mothers in the front row being photographed by journalists and all of that being shown on national TV, his SPECIFIC arguments in that post fucking stand and there's not a single person in the world that can rationally challenge them. People can be hated, but facts really can't. Which is why in this case it's Milkis who's irrationally hated for it. Simple as that.
