So as for starcraft going main stream? It's possible but if the biggest game in the world can't gain ground in the USA what chance does a video game have? Well that isn't the only thing you can infer from that analogy though. Yes that is one way of looking at it. The other is that the overall popularity of the sport doesn't matter. What matters is interest of your demographic, and how expensive is it to put it on a time slot. For example, I'm sure every sport channel would love to have Barclays on at some point. But they have to pay a good amount of money to have the right to air it, and their demographic wouldn't want to miss Hockey/Football/Basketball etc. So is the cost of putting Man U vs Arsenal at 3 am worth it? No. But what about putting darts in the afternoon? There is a small following, but more importantly, it is very cheap to put on TV. I think SC2 would fall under this umbrella. Instead of paying millions for premiere Soccer league, they can pay relatively nothing to put on something people enjoy, and they can put it at any time and still get a decent following.

Also the guests he brings on are equally interesting, Bryan Callen is one of my favourite guests on that show, he's appeared in many movies in various extra roles, most notably in the Hangover. Dude's incredibly intelligent and interesting, i'd recommend watching any podcast featuring him or Duncan Trussell. The guy on the right was the tech guy Brian "redban", he's a bit weird at times and I don't quite understand why he's wearing a blizzard t-shirt but he may be a fan of WoW or something. *shrugs*.

He's one of the few level headed celebrities out there and he is completely down to earth, open minded, and acknowledges that where he is right now is a combination of hard work and luck. He doesn't feel entitled to his success nor does he expect anyone to know him. His podcast is easily one of the most eye-opening and awesome things on the internet, even if you look passed all the goofy high talk, there's tons of cool stories and he does raise a lot of important questions about human interaction and life in general. Also kind of exposes some of the bullshit craziness that happens in the comedy world, as he is quite the comedy connoisseur. Me and Rogan are very similar within our interests in life. Been listening to his podcasts since about episode 20, have since listened to em all. They are all funny, informative, at the same time fucking ludacris and crazy. He has awesome guests from friends like Joey diaz duncan trussell and ari shaffir, to more "classy" guests like anthony bourdain, and a bunch of scholars n shit as well. Best podcast out there imo

I try to dumb down the game to the bare basics. SC2 is an economy based game, and with the money, you do 3 main things. Army, Tech, more money. When i watch games with my friends who dont play sc2, i explain it to them that ok this guy is getting army while this guy is going econ. Army has to hit econ before econ reaps its benefits if not he falls behind, cause with a bigger econ u can get a bigger army. Most of the time they get it, then ill go on to tell them what whichever side can do to turn the game around. And thats when i go deeper into the game! =D

And thats when i go deeper into the game! =D In the past Valencia Dreamhack, a small cable channel in Spain broadcasted the tourney in spanish with two spanish amateur casters, but between games they keep airing explanation videos of what SC2 is, and how it works. They explained micro, macro, each race concept, and a small bio of E-sports so far. Even my wife found them interesting, with zero SC2 knowledge. Now thanks to that videos and my friendship with one of the casters, she is hooked to the game, and we both enjoyed the MLG orlando in the past weekend. (well, i was casting the games for her, since she doesn't understand english) So maybe it is just possible to keep people with no RTS knowledge (as far as it goes, my wife gaming knowledge is "angry brids" and "plants vs zombies" in the Iphone) just doing beginner oriented videos on each tv shows from time to time.
