GSL Finals are always bad. I suggest TSL or NASL finals

It can easily be described as an interactive-real-time-chess match, with "casters/commentators" assisting your lack of knowledge by spouting their game-knowledge.

Tastetosis compensates for the normal boringness of a BO7 TvT. Anyway on topic, I think the main issue for people who are trying to get into the game with no experience with it will be the relatively steep learning curve. Of course, compared to games like SupCom FA (TLO will know what I'm talking about ), this game is incredibly easy to learn the basics of. However, when you get to the pro matches with extremely complex strategies, its going to be very hard for people to catch on and hang onto. On the flip side, games like football are very easy to understand at the core, but the strategy and mind games behind it are something only veterans of the game, hardcore fans, or people who have actually placed football can understand.

So weird. Anyone who is too lazy to listen to it all. Its basically just some really noob guy who is really enthusiastic about sc2 and esports trying to explain it to Joe and the other dude. Then joe goes on to make the analogy of how no one gives a fuck about watching pool unless they play it in the same way as SC2 (especially since its infinitely more complex and hard to understand). And the only reason why other team sports are so much more popular is that even if you dont play it and understand the game you can still respect the athletism etc of professional players. And that is exactly why Esports and sc2 will never be mainstream. Because you can make the same analogy about golf, chess, poker, wrestling, etc. No one gives a shit unless they play it themselves and understands it.

They did mention that a definite way for it to be extremely popular was if you could see every unit in a hologram type way and see the fight in 3d where it was so realistic and complex at the same time. But honestly that would take a couple hundred more years of technology, but they were really high so it's not really that far off for them to think of something like that. If you really think about it there will be games like that eventually, just not in our lifetime. If something is really awesome, it will catch on regardless whether or not people understand it or not, starcraft just isn't THAT awesome yet, maybe it won't even be starcraft to become that awesome, but some game will.

Its pretty fucking mainstream dude. And no, you don't need to play any of those or sc2 to enjoy it. You just need to understand it. You can understand it just by spectating. I've never played competitive football, but I understand the spread offense and a tampa 2 defense just from spectating. Same holds true for sc2 and any other sport. I never did any mma stuff, but understand it from watching. Do I have the best undersstanding? No, but enough to enjoy it a lot. Look, sc2 is really complex, but it doesn't need to be explained at a such complex level for new people to find it entertaining. Basically you build up an army and kill your opponent. Explain it at such a basic level and as their interest grows, so will their knowledge of the game. And with sc2, its a visually appealing game. That's huge in attracting viewers. Competition itself is a natural draw. Its entertaining and has natural drama. That's why sports are entertaining. We like watching the best compete.

that said, when i try to explain starcraft to someone who knows nothing about the game i avoid specific terms and go to general terms me teaching a kid who doesnt even know what half the buildings and units are goes something like this "build worker, hit s [most of my friends start terran because its human] ok click on a worker hit b twice and click anywhere, now you have a rax, when its done you can make a basic fighting unit -- later on BUILD SHOOTA BUILD SHOOTA BUILD WORKA!!!!~" (i like to try to make it hilarious and memorable xD)
