Imo Stephano is currently the most talented Sc2 player in the world (korea included) and if he takes the game seriously WILL win a several gsl's. I have been saying this ever since Homestory 3 and if yo go back and watch the games he won from there you should be able to see it, his star sense is absolutely insane.
To explain why I call him the most talented is because right now we are still seeing Stephano in his early stages of development, a 18 year old kid that plays sc2 purely on the ladder 3-4 hours a day while he works and studies as his main focus, that is the kid that just rolled IPL 3, probably the toughest none gsl tournament so far.
If Stephano goes to Korea, is able to adapt to their culture and takes up Sc2 as a full time job he is GOING to win several gsl's. I look at his play when he is being brilliant and he looks far better then Nestea or DRG in my opinion.

If you check his ladder profile he has just over 1000 wins (meaning like 1200-1400 games played) and 600 custom games.
With that, he won IPL3.
HOWEVER, and its a big however, according to him, he can't stay focused and play for more then few hours a day. Without that, no kind of talent will help him in a long run. He is young and talented. If he can become a hardworker as well....there is no telling where he could end up.

These code S discutions are so ridiculous...
Objectivly, with a competition like GSL and these BO1 for up and down matches, how the hell can you establish a player's hierachy with that??
Since when loosing 2 BO1 in a row vs 2 different players make you a so worth player that the man you just lost against??

I can admit that there's a level difference between lower code A and higher code S, but between the half higher part of code A and the half lower part of code S, no difference sorry, it's a biased point of view.
Considering the match ups, the maps, the shape, the "random"/"all in" part of BO1 for up and down matches, I think that at present, being a code A or a code S player is mostly irrevelant of your level. For most of players in this tournament.
I'm not saying Stephano is a code B/A/S, neither the opposite, i just say : it dont make any sense to try to put him (or any other player) in this kind of "Box of level". It's much more complicated than that.

This is the reason I paid for the Prime account already but i must say it was well worth it with the player visions and great interviews and such on the roaming cams aswell, thumbs up for those crews and special shoutout to the Beastcrew as saviors of esports, when they kept us updated & entertained when that truck killed the interwebs!
IPL3 was a great success, especially considering the messy start, which was not to blame on them whatsoever. Still they got alot of flak for it by clueless " fans" yet they kept their cool, and in the end it all turned out well still. Respect!

but i think the big question is would stephano's playstyle be able to hold up in the code s environment, where you have a week to prepare for your opponent
stephano's playstyle strikes me more as one where he could be a real teamleague juggernaut, yes, like DRG, but with a different playstyle than DRG. one of the weaknesses of foreign tournaments is that at best you have overnight and at worst you have like an hour to prepare for your next opponent.
DRG looks pretty invincible as well, but recent games have shown that if you slow down and analyze his play carefully, there are some really small cracks that can become really big cracks if you chisel at them perfectly

My guess : If he can be ready to play and win final just after his semi final when his opponent had 2 more hours to prepare himself, i dont see why it would be different if they have both a week to prepare...

It's not what he meant. He meant what if players prepare for him because they know him/that he is good?
Look at how DRG trashed code S terrans in GSTL when he was relatively "unknown"
These terrans didn't have a lot of preparation at first because they don't knew how good he was.
But then after how dominant he was in GSTL, he had to play in MLG and qualified for GSL.
His play was analyzed... and he got trashed himself.
Like about every terran beat him in those MLG : Mvp, MMA, Bomber.
He then got beaten in GSL by SuperNova who said that Mvp explained him how to beat DRG.
And he got beaten as well in AOL by MKP very badly.
Why? Because his play got analyzed.
It's not THAT hard to reach a top level where you can beat top players, the hard thing is to stay at this level when other top players are aware of your level, and want to beat you.

Honestly stephano didnt even beat any code s calibre players to win IPL. His win was certainly impressive, but im also pretty sure that the pressure really got to lucky. Lucky's ZVZ's against ret (whos no slouch) were far more impressive. Stephano beat a code a player in the finals and a Code b player in the semi's. Its obviously impressive but dont go around saying hes going to pull a naniwa at MLG with top koreans there. Just not going to happen. I could easily see him not making it out of the open bracket as MLG has stated that MLG orlando will have more koreans coming than any previous MLG. Stephano is an awesome player, and he totally deserved the win at IPL but i dont think hes going to be pulling off results like this at many other majors , at least not consistently. The korean roster for IPL3 was strong but it wasnt as strong as any of the MLG's. The koreans stephano beat consisted of 1 code a 3 code b's and 1 code s player who he lost to. When stephano faced a code S terran earlier in the tournament (alive) he got 2-0'd remember that.

With koreans everywhere, and this has been allowed by open qualifiers and online qualifications where skill > fame. And a foreigner won the all thing, over a million of koreans ! Look at the MLG pools and then come say me MLG > IPL.
Stephano will not win the next 10 events and 4 GSL, but he has confirmed what many knew, he is among the very top foreigners and can compete with the bests. For the ones who "know" about the game, play zerg and follow him since a verry long time like i did (over 3-4 months), this is just so so obvious.
I guess that the guys who dismish his performance know anything about the game, never watched him play before ipl, were laughing when everybody said "look at this guy he's awsome he will do great things" and now he did THE MOST AMAZING performance a foreigner ever made in a tourney they stay trolling around and hate... This is sad.
Now i don't think he will win MLG since he has to go throught the open bracket and if he can go to the final bracket it's already quite good. You can't expect him to be a foreign cyborg made to beat koreans in order to save the world...
