I've been in gold since SC2 release but last week I starting focusing on purely macro and now I'm constantly beating platinum players. I beg to differ. It is important to also know appropriate unit compositions, hahahaha. I massed roaches vs mauraders for a long time in bronze, because they looked like they would be able to take more heavy hits. XDDDD I do think to an extent, because the macro isn't going to be that great no matter how much you work on it, it's really important to understand how to scout in the lower leagues, and how to counter your opponent. Just remembering to go check what kind of units your opponent has, and building something appropriate in response is something most bronze/silver league players forget to do regularly. Aside from that-- the thread is a load of obnoxiousness all around. -.-

Obvsiously knowing what unit counters are is kind of important but that will lose you less games than shit macro will.

O.o Feels like a lot of "we're noobs you're expecting too much of us" vs blind elitism "macro harder you need nothing else" Yeah, the tone on both sides (myself included) could have been nicer from the start. But it's a very frustrating thread: the lower level players are basically bashing the strat forum veterans for something they don't really do (people don't just write "macro better", they post pretty detailed critiques in most cases) and then making really weirdly illogical arguments about how you don't need to macro better if you're in silver because silver players don't macro very well. Or something. I keep finding myself drawn back like a moth to flame, but I think I need to just stop opening that thing. It's not good for my blood pressure.

Okay, I've conceded your point in the original thread to get the conversation back where it belongs. So. How about them bans? samaNo4 was just temp banned for 1 week by Kennigit. That account was created on 2010-12-02 04:27:17 and had 173 posts. I found that one amusing, since it's totally missing a reason. Makes it look like samaNo4 was banned for having an account created on the wrong day and/or the wrong number of posts.

That just means it was for a pattern rather than a specific post, and they didn't put in a reason, usually. Although with Kennigit, he could have just not put in a reason anyway. Edit: May be related to starting this stupid shit, with a LOT of temps for player bashing.

Kennigit simply banned him for it, and neglected to give a reason, seeing as how it was in PMs. Usually, those sorts of PMs are hilariously nerd-angsty and are posted along with the ban message, but I figure that it just wasn't funny enough this time.

Every one of them was pretty much deserved(except for the meme imo, which was funny as hell and appropriate for the time and place but oh well). Learned my lesson and try not to do the same things again I got warned for.
