I have two warnings; One for making a bad joke that (in addition) came across the wrong way, and one for making a smiley-only post. Also a temp for making probably the worst post out of my odd 2.4k or whatnot. I'm just surprised I could of written something that stupid O_o | ||

Honestly, even though I think some people take it way over the top anyway, I do think the self promotion policy may be either hard to find or hard to understand for some people. As I understand it, it's something like this: A link to something truly relevant to the discussion that's posted at a personal site? Ok if it comes with post content, especially if it allows you not to type something up dozens of times. A link in your sig line or profile, allowed. A post created with the sole intent of telling people about new social etc site? Iffy, depending on how, where, and why it's presented, very case-by-case. Anything that involves money related to self promotion? Buy a sponsored thread. Anything involving help making a competitor for TL.net? Get a life, dick. | ||

It's not like it's just the self promotion that's egregious with that guy. Having an account on TL only to have a thread where you promote your stream is okay, though it would be nice if people came to the forum to contribute and not just to generate traffic. It's having seven identical threads with three of them closed that blows my mind. How hard is it to figure out? And it's not that hard to find your thread again. Especially if you never post anywhere else - it will always be right at the top of your post history. | ||
