I started looking up strategy on blizzards sc2 website which eventually led me to day9 who introduced me to mlg and the gsl and sometime during that I came across teamliquid.net. One day I decided to enter a tournament (it was an alienware tournament to be exact). The first game of my very first tournament I got matched up with some guy named Chris "HuKs" Loranger. (I went by Jolteon back then) For some reason I recognized this guys name (I recognized his name at the time because day9 did a daily on one of his games). I googled him and saw that he was some epic sc2 player and had a panic attack.
I didn't expect to win the game. I hope to have a fun game tho. I remember HuK being chatty. He asked me if this was a bo3. I didn't know what that meant at the time so I said i dont know (not wanting to look noob infront of someone his caliber!) He proceeded to proxy gate me in my natural (that nice little spot on blistering sands). My scouting probe saw that he had nothing in his base but back then I didn't really look in his base, I just sent the probe because I was suppose to. I actually held off his attack losing some probes in the process. I think he follow up 4gated me and proceeded to murder me. I should really dig up that replay sometime. I remember being really excited from that game. I was very disappointed but still excited.
Blizzcon was really what got me hooked on starcraft. I watched nearly all of the starcraft games but what really got me hooked was a king of the hill booth they had. If you won three times in a row you got a poster. My first time trying it I got into a pvp on blistering sands. One thing lead to another and I ended up mothership rushing with the inevitable loss.
The next time around was different though. The first game was on scrap station against a terran who went something like two port banshees. I don't remember what I did but I won. Next game was against a zerg on steppes of war, he went hydra/infestor and I went zealot/HT/archon. (I felt like a ballers feedbacking his infestors). The final game was against a zerg on scrap station. My heart was pounding and I was literally shaking (I think my body was pumping adrenaline or something). I sent my scouting probe and saw that he was six pooling me. I tried to block that giant ramp off but I couldnt do it in time. Luckily he was attacking my gateway instead of my probes and I chrono'd a zealot. My zealot and a handful of probes fended off his attack. I think he stayed in the game and I played safe and eventually won. The guy i was playing against stormed off and I raised my hand to get my final sticker. My friends were all watching from behind congratulated me and told me that they were sure I was gonna lose to that six pool and about how some guy a few stations over was raging hard. I was high on life and wanted more.
I continued to play eventually getting to diamond (I think I was something like 1600 diamond back when minigun was breaking into 3000. I started playing in tournaments again, never making it past the 3rd round though. I had a game against a protoss player casted for a tournaments. I freaked out having an adrenaline shaking fit the whole time. Got 4gated when I tried to expand off a fast robo (don't know what I was thinking XD). I got casted again in another tournament against a zerg player, (still got those adrenaline shakes but not as bad). I eventually lost but everyone in the chat afterwords told me they thought the zerg player was stream cheating. (he did admit that his friend told him that I was going voids >.< ) (I made a pretty baller build order for pvz that I wrote a guide for in strategy section )
It was coming close to winterbreak and I decided that I was going to try to play full time during break just to see how I could do. A week before break though I entered a tournament and got paired against optikzero. I was initially hesitant because when I invited him to the game about 10 other people joined the game. He proceeded to crush me horrendously. I mean bad. I was so upset with that loss that I didn't play again for four months. I came back eventually and tried playing off and on as zerg. Stopped. Started playing again over summer as zerg and then terran, got demoted in the process and eventually started playing toss again.
Well that's it really, longer then I expected but yeah ^^
Oh and I didn't play 30 games today
