    Also don't forget to control the map with zerglings. If you see gateway units moving out with a probe (you already should have scoured the map for a proxy pylon), make roaches/lings. Zerglings tend to melt, however are great for spotting around them and harassing the proxy pylon(s) while the protoss is making his first pokes with his zealots.

The composition I like to build late game vs terran mech (I am assuming this is mech) is roach/hydra/ultra/swarmhost/viper. I kinda stop making as many roaches once it lates late game and it's mainly hydra/ultra/swarmhost/viper. I feel this is a very strong composition verse mech and I don't struggle vs mech at all right now.
When I think of something else, something will go here

Well, since this is the help me thread. What would you do against bio and mines, blade? I like swarm hosts a lot, but they don't seem too effective in that situation except vs the mines.

I have been doing muta/ling/bane into swarmhost while teching to hive (getting about 10 sh's) and I really am liking it so far . Did it vs bio + widow mine and I am pretty sure if I hadn't made swarmhosts I would have lost. Their good vs bio to as long as you have support.

Thanks a lot. Mutas and swarm hosts seem to compliment each other well. Do you ever drop? Roach drops with swarm hosts poking the front vs mech seems good.

I'm having trouble against protoss lategame when they get a really good composition. What exactly do you go for (i'd need specifics like how many vipers and stuff cause I'm lost right now.)

If it's an air composition and they're maxed, you've made a huge mistake not killing them earlier.

Generally, the way ZvP goes, the zerg does NOT take it to the late game unless there are many base trades going on (ie the protoss doesn't have enough economy to build up to the 200/200 air/zealot/storm army). Forget the Wings philosophy of turteling forever - once you have a timing (With a unit or upgrade), try to exploit it.

So, when protoss gets a "really good composition," if you don't have 3-4 200/200 armies to throw at them in fast succession, the game is basically over at this point. Sucks, doesn't it? ;(

The best cheese build ZvZ?

Im working on burrowed roaches all-in, I think it doesnt work that well (even optimized, because of map-omniscience in ZvZ and spore that dont request evo chamber) however fake burrowed roaches all in are pretty good, because zergs overreact, 3/4 offensive roaches with burrow are always cost efficient, and like every roach opening it is pretty safe.
A friend is someone you know well and still love.

As for a specific build order - not yet. I'm working on a complete set of HotS guides (~ to the Wings ones but with more in them), so they wil lbe in there.

However, begin the game like any normal Wings game. However, if you don't scout stargate, immediatetely throw down all 6 gasses shortly after lair is complete and an infestation pit. Generally, you goal is to build only drones, upgrades, and swarm hosts up until ~ 12. Add some roaches/hydras. So, instead of pumping out roaches/infestors/hydra/muta (ect), you're getting swarm hosts as your initial lair tech.

Look to set up a contain, and tech to whatever you want. If you can get out 6 brood lords before air is out (unlikely), that is really powerful. Otherwise, players choose between going for fast ultralisk or a roach/hydra/viper composition behind the swarm hosts off of superior upgrades.


WARNING: Versus a contain-style, almost all protoss's will look to warp prism harass. Be wary of this - have ~8 roaches hanging back as your contain develops.

Since ZvZ is mostly mutas, I want to try and punish players who get a quick lair (say after speed/bling nest). Any good all-ins? I've heard ling/bling off 2 gas can be pretty good but not sure when to do it.

Any kind of roach/bane or 2 gas mass baneling all in will do.

Just be careful - EVERY all in can be stopped by a mutalisk-going player if scouted with spines/banes. So all ins are still risky.

Hm it's a tough composition to fight but I have killed it. Over at my guide there are a set of zvp replays which has it show casing me killing the toss deathball (mass void/colo/temp).

With swarmhosts 12 is a good number, 3-5 ultra, bunch of hydras and 3-4 vipers. Although once a ton of templar are out on the field vipers aren't the best.

here is the copy paste:

6:10 – 2 gases
6:30 – 7 minutes – a roach warren (this is up to you on when to get this)
7 minutes – evo chamber (start +1 carapace)
7:00 – get 3rd gas
7:20 to 7:30 – start lair (this will be explained later)
8:00 – get 4’th gas
Lair finishes – infestation pit and hydralisk (this will be explained later)
9:00 – 5’th and 6’th gas

Is burrow and overlord speed on hatch tech essentially useless or are there new openings that can use these? Both Terran and Protoss have several new early game options for harass (reapers, faster medivacs, widow mines, oracles, cheaper DT, better voids) that don't disrupt their economy too much. Can Zerg use their new tools in any way or was it a misguided attempt by blizz?
