Bumping this to alert people that this is up on Steam now.

If you pre-order, it's only $9.99, which bumps up to $14.99 when it released on the 30th.

How did this thread not get a single reply? This game does indeed look awesome. Shame I'm so terrible at seemingly comparable platformers (N+ IWTBTG, etc.) Still looks fun.

Ya. Be forewarned, this game is supposed to be difficult and frustrating, with a lot of trial and error type levels. It's already out on XBLA, and I'd suggest reading up on some reviews, but it's got freaking 350 levels. How can you not want to shell out $10 for a game that offers that much. And I can't say it being difficult scares me off. It makes me want to play it even more.

Meat Boy. Not since I Wanna Be the Guy have I raged so hard at a video game. The amount of anger that was generated by this game was so unfathomable, if there were a method of transmuting emotions into pure energy, I could have powered the entirety of Rhode Island.

From deliberately unexpected instant death mechanics to unfairly punishing level design to the direct mocking of the player via Dr. Fetus, this was a game designed entirely to teach you the true meaning of pain, of soul-rending agony.

Oh Bandage Girl, woe have I endured to free you from his dreaded clutches, walls made of buzzsaws have I climbed, worlds of lava and fire like the nine levels of Hell have I traversed, many a time have I watched my animated bovine muscle tissue splattered all over the screen, but again and again I persevered, until we were reunited again, only to be rewarded with this promise of a sequel...

Preordered, loved the newgrounds version. Awesome to play when I'm on my laptop battery. And this one looks like it has so many extra features. Love value for my money.

The style of gameplay reminds me so much of playing the Megaman X series.

Anyone who wants to buy this should play the original flash version on newgrounds first. That should prepare you for the mind-numbingly unfair and incredibly difficult mechanics that were just in that flash game

Finally finished watching this footage in between GSL games and I feel that, as it only shows the first 20 levels or so (out of 350, mind you), it does not accurately represent the gameplay of this masochist masterpiece.

For people who have not played the original on Newgrounds, this game is hard. No, not "I actually have to pay attention?" hard. This game is truly hard. Nintendo Hard. SNK Boss Hard. Playing this game brings back memories of the old-school classics like Battletoads and Contra, and I don't mean fond memories, I mean those repressed memories where you ended up getting into a fight with your brother over a video game and have now agreed to never speak of it again.

Instant death, unfair level design, parts that require near pixel-perfect precision, this game uses every trick in the Platform Hell book and then some. If you are one of those people who throw controllers and swear incoherently, this is not a game for you. If you suspect you may have a heart condition, this is not a game for you. If however you are a gaming ace or a fan of platform hell games, then please go right ahead. And may I recommend I Wanna Be the Guy, which will teach you beautiful levels of pain.

To be clear here so I don't buy a piece of shit game, is this hard like I Wanna Be The Guy with stupid random death levels you have to repeatedly do because the game designer wants to kill you, or hard like Contra where you die because you made poor decisions.

didn't play IWBTG but i got this for XBL

its hard in a....

"Here's a hard ass level. Timing will matter, holding jump a little too long will kill you, but everything is fairly straight up. You lost because you messed up, and this level didn't allow for mistakes."

To give a more relevant example you might know of....

You know Ninja Gaiden for NES? You know that one ledge, where you jump down, and there is a bullet mid air traveling to kill you? You need to jump this bullet, but it is fired before you can see the bullet itself, or the shooter shooting it. Super meat boy does NOT do that kinda shit. You can see the level and know 100% what to expect. It will be hard, but if you are awesome, you could pass every level on the first play. No horseshit here, but it is hard.

The game is extraordinarily hard, but it is fair hard, Nintendo Hard. You can see from the video that you can actually see most of the level when you spawn so the only real trial and error comes from learning what the different level mechanics (like the sand blocks) do. There are tons and tons of instant death mechanics but you see them coming, and the level designs are unfair, but only that you are punished severely for the tiniest mistake, not for stuff that would be impossible to predict.

It's definitely hard though and the some parts of the game require perfection and robotic precision to get through.

I can't wait for the IWBTG(kid) level pack. They should have unexpected deaths EVERYWHERE. If they don't I will be sad.
