Contra hard. And if the newgrounds games are any indication, you will only have to beat some of the levels in a world to get to the next world, which can keep you from swearing incoherently at your monitor. EDIT: This will probably happen anyways, haha

It's definitely not IWBTG hard, since the level layouts are very obvious with no hidden pop-ups causing instant deaths. It just requires extremely precise control in order to win. It took me about 4 hours to beat every level off the Flash version, so it's definitely not impossible. Even though it was frustrating at times, I still found it pretty fun in the end. I'll probably buy this.

I bought this a few weeks ago on XBLA. It's such a great game. Some of the levels are crazy hard. You will die a LOT, but the instant respawn keeps you from getting frustrated, and there's a cool "replay" you can watch when you beat a level that shows your previous attempts all at once. The music is so addicting you'll find yourself humming along as you repeatedly get chopped to bits by saw blades. The game also has a bit of cute humor added in the cutscenes. I'd definitely recommend picking it up.
Don't be turned off by the difficulty. Just like in Starcraft, when you lose it's disappointing, but when you win the satisfaction is more than worth it.

Super Meatboy is amazingly fun, and terribly difficuly. Whereas IWTBG is cheap in a LOT of places this game is even handed. There are no random deaths, only failures of your skill or the D-pad breaking. Those are the only two ways to fail here.
Its a great game. Highly recommended.

This is the type of game developers need to be making more of.

Ohhhh I'm loving this game. It's got some bugs, but nothing that ruins the gameplay, just some menu stuff that crashes the game, but they already said they are working on it.
Love the Leaderboard system. Makes for some replay value if you are into getting the absolute best time possible. I also always feel the need to get a bandage, like I'll kill myself over and over and over until I get that mother fucking bandage.
Anyway, back to the game. It's everything I expected.

Wow O.O
I clicked this trailer expecting to see something incredibly stupid (what the hell kind of name is Super Meat Boy?). This game looks intense!

Hmmm... reminded me of another game online I used to play. You might as well just play the N game for free, since this game seems so similar.

I bought this game, I can say that if not for Starcraft II which I would call game of the century (so far) this would be my game of the year. It is just amazing in every way, it is presented in a nice way and has some features that not only make you nostalgia all over it (warp zones) but some that are just downright entertaining. It shows a replay of all of your attempts on a level and it looks like an insane stampede after some of the harder levels, also it shows your total deaths and in a little over two hours of play I have clocked up around 700 deaths.
To the people saying it is Nintendo hard, yes it is, but it isn't frustrating because it is never game over. You get to respawn a second after you die and try all over again, also each level takes about 20-40 seconds to complete assuming perfect play so you don't have many moments where you spend 5 minutes on a level only to die to the last obstacle. Also you can skip as many levels as you please (I think) if a certain level has your number.
If asked to rate it so far, 9.99 / 10. I can't recommend this game enough.

The controls are incredibly unresponsive and end up killing me more often than the actual game, ruining most of the fun I would have with this game. That and the frequent crashing when pausing or in menus.

I just got this game today and it's really good, it can get pretty satisfying beating levels as they are pretty hard sometimes! The only thing i don't like is the controls, it can be hard to press space and shift it the same time and they can't be changed(yet).

Like how hard is this game? Is it like original 1983 Donkey Kong hard?

The controls are absolutely immaculate. Maybe it's a problem on your end or playing on keyboard is just that unsavory, but don't blame the game itself.

I just got done playing this for 8 hours. I can see why its metacritic average is a 90/100. Beating all the light-world levels seems really do-able, but the dark world and warps zones start to get a little WTF!

The problem I have with it is that end up doing the same level over and over again, and different things happen because of how the jumping responds. If I jump at a wall, sometimes it will jump off like I want it to, sometimes he'll slide up the wall and won't jump no matter how many times I press the button, and sometimes he'll just stick there and fall down into the giant sawblade below, when I've done the exact same thing every time and should be dying to a sawblade or pile of needles etc. further in the level.
A good example of this is level 1-14 if you hold left right at the beginning and try to jump OVER the first moving sawblade there, sometimes it will go over it, sometimes you'll clip the sawblade, sometimes he won't even jump.

sorry but what is fun about this game. reminds me of that one stick ninja game.

So are you playing on a keyboard without n-key rollover?
edit: also, I just tried level 1-14 on keyboard for the first time (abs m1, this keyboard ghosts) and got A+ no problem first try. ????
