Searched, but didn't find a thread on this. Completely surprised me as I've heard Season 1's ratings were not that great plus it has been quite awhile since it aired.
According to the WCG main site, WCG Ultimate Gamer will have a second season to air in the Summer. Supposedly casting for it will happen around March of 2010.
For those wondering what this is, EG.iNcontrol was in the 1st season, and it aired on SyFy (SciFi) in the USA. The old thread for season 1 can be found at: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=85611
So - anyone have any thoughts on it or planning to try to audition? According to the WCG site, auditions will be open to those outside of the US this time as well.

Nothing is more cringe-worthy than a television show that tries to appeal to the gamer demographic. Seriously. Just stop trying. Right now. It's embarrassing.

lol the show is fucking terrible i stopped watching the episode incontrol was out. season 1 was like "let the people who are good at their genre isolate the people who suck"
it was stupid.

lol this show was so bad. If they play ddr again i can donate one of my metal arcade pads so they dont use those shitty plastic ones...not that it would make a difference since they were all so bad at the game anyways :D

Bad ratings compared to what? They had a modest goal and they actually achieved it as far as ratings are concerned. It isn't like the show is a prime-time show that was made to compete with LOST or something.. it was a sci-fi show that wanted to reach the gamer demograph and it did.
The show has televised in australia and a few other parts of the world. USA network bought rights to it and now airs it as a series on their channel. Sci-Fi has reran it several times and included it in marathons. I don't think it is fair to summarize the show as "i heard it didn't do that well."
As for the others saying it was so bad.. I wish you to go a little lighter on the show. It obviously isn't an amazing show with any kind of revolutionary aspect but it was actually fairly well done for what it was. Especially given how it went places other shows haven't.. or at least at that level in terms of a reality based gaming show. Obviously it was cheesy and had problems with the competition. Detach yourself from the perfectionist gamer perspective and try and appreciate how the show gave drama, nice twists, heroes, bad guys, relationships etc etc.. and the finale was fucking fantastic I don't care what anyone says.
Season 2 will be interesting. Most shows try and do an exaggerated version of themselves from prior seasons. I can tell you that as far as I know the cast from season 1 won't be involved.. I'm sure they will do stuff with Mark and make references to some of us but that should be it.
I'm kinda excited (obviously my perspective is a bit different) that a new version of this show will air. I hope they use some better games and make the competitions a little more interesting instead of (as chill said) super luckbox comps where 1 person specialized and the rest kinda suck.

agreed. The only reason it was interesting was because of incontrol being there. Otherwise is was a horrible show
