It isn't like the show is a prime-time show that was made to compete with LOST or something.. it was a sci-fi show that wanted to reach the gamer demograph and it did. The show has televised in australia and a few other parts of the world. USA network bought rights to it and now airs it as a series on their channel. Sci-Fi has reran it several times and included it in marathons. I don't think it is fair to summarize the show as "i heard it didn't do that well." A. I could have chosen a better choice of words, but by "not great", I meant I heard it did so-so. I did not mean that it did bad or that it sucked. There is a difference in that meaning and what you seem to think I mean. As for the exact comparison, I have seen numbers before once (information posted on the Syfy forums that linked to an official source), but it would likely take me half an hour to find them again to give context. B. I personally enjoyed the show and watched every episode. The posts on this thread seem to support what I heard in part A elsewhere, but do not represent my personal opinion of the show. Thanks.

Good luck anyway and I hope it improves on the first one... it does have potential.

Precisely. As long as they expand beyond the shiny popular games, then it will be somewhat interesting.

The concept didn't make sense. Yeah, let's find the ''ultimate gamer'' by taking random players from the USA and putting them into a house and make them play random, but popular games where some people obviously have massive advantages / disadvantages. That whole idea was just retarded. I did like the when they did the things in ''real'' life too, basically the ONLY thing I really enjoyed, kinda. About the ''drama'' in the house. The editing was horrible and things were clearly overexegrated and tried to make them seem bigger then they were. This is, of course normal for any reality show, but the way it was executed in this was just bad. I found the drama, the villains and the heroes and w/e in Tila Tequilas reality show more believable and more fun to watch. And the fact is, I don't want to see some stupid relation ship drama in a show that's supposed to be about gamers and gaming. I expected a true gamer show. Lots of gaming, lots of typical gamer shit talking, tournaments etc what I mean by this is that they actually played the games for a longer time, and more neutral games., instead it turned out to be some crap reality show with a poor concept - worse then those Bachelor shows. The whole, let's play a game for a small amount of time and move to next game didn't really work. I remember the Guitar Hero elimination. The elimination was edited to be a tight thing, but in reality, the guy with the contact lenses just destroyed the other guy without any effort. And anybody with any gaming experience in general, knew that he would absolutely have no chance. Hurrayh for exciting finals I suppose. I do have to give props to them trying this concept though. Somehow has to take the first steps. I might sound harsh but this is what I think. Personally I think the only reason people even watched the first season was because it was a new concept, but the question is, now that they have seen it, will they return for season 2?

No one would watch the show if it was nothing but 'lots of gaming.' There's a reason there aren't gaming tv channels across the world already... the scyfy (sp?) channel didn't exactly try to strike oil with this show...

The thing is though, I enjoy watching players play, I watch StarCraft like probably you do. I enjoy watching people that are better than me. I don't really mind the game, I can get entertained by watching Tetris. The title had nothing to do with the show though, the title Ultimate Gamer, all of those people had one or two games they were good at, rest they were mediocre or they just sucked. And this what annoyed me. Hell you could have thrown me in or some other console players in there that probably would have done a better job as a first timers at some of the games. And would I even be worty or capable of holding a title called Ultimate Gamer? No. But it just shows how poorly planned it was. But in the end what I got was another Bachelor type reality crap with a poor concept. I mean seriously, you could take a Bachelor show and made the contestant play games for the roses and you'd have a better show, Lol. And it would be more fun to watch instead of the one sided rapes / totally predictable outcomes of the game challenges. And you could also have the cheesy crap in it too, that wouldn't feel totally out of place. Anyways, again, just my 2 cents.

The format of the gaming however was just really sad. Instead of WCG ultimate gamer, it was x-box ultimate gamer, which in itself was terrible because most WCG games arent on X-box. It also set up the huge discrepancies in skill levels when you would be facing a guitar hero player up against a counterstrike player in guitar hero. It wasnt exactly a fair competition. If I was going to suggest a format, I would go through the WCG games, and have the pros have a bye when their game comes up, preventing them from smashing the unfortunate other players. It would also allow them to choose to help others out with their training. Maybe then a game with the pro and the week's winner with some sort of seperate prize would be interesting.

The thing is all reality TV shows are pretty awful anyway so if you're expecting this to be better than them then you're expectations are too high. As reality TV goes I thought it was pretty good and if they manage to make the 2nd series as good as the 1st then it's definitely watchable.

Of course the scenes with incontrol all ruled and if someone I could pretend to be loosely connected with was in another season I would probably catch a few episodes.
