Or how our climate works is basically just a very complex chemical reaction, with different substates in time and place, but that doesn't mean it abides by different rules, it just might have a bigger capacity to resist change. But when change does happen, due to a change in equilibrium and the system can't buffer any longer, the change will be quick - in terms of the size of the system - and unstoppable.
I think one of the processes we're running into over and over is saturation and how we're unable to understand it yet on a metaphysical level. Either it's people not understanding supply-demand, or it's assuming they're too big to be denied, or they think they can force supply down people's throats and the demand will (begrudgingly) come sooner or later.
Are companies supposed to grow indefinitely? This is something I don't understand. What's wrong with being steady state and tagging along inflation?
What's the end goal of capitalism? Does it envision a free market where the price of goods have raced to the bottom so everyone can share in the pie? Or is this constant push towards becoming bigger and bigger something unsustainable? Microsoft-Acitivison-Blizzard, like what is that even? How many companies has Alphabet under its umbrella by now. Maybe I don't understand the larger vision. Maybe it's very simple (I do because I can), but they are so far beyond what I can comprehend that I can't do anything else than hope it'll turn out okay in the long run (it won't).
I think the world would've benefited by setting some rules for the game of capitalism in advance. Like you don't more personal wealth than making it comfortable for you and 2 generations down the line for example. Or no more expanding/acquiring when your market cap exceeds "insert random number here based on global/regional metrics".
Democracy is being stretched to its limits (and snapping at some places) due to these economic forces being so dominant. But there's also other factors aiding this destruction. I truly think we've reached our limit as to how far we are willing to compromise in our ideology. Call it being stubborn, or call it inevitable break up, that's to be decided. All I know is that it feels like we're in some kind of denial phase.
