Live stream ticket is $20 / season. VODs $30 / season. Each season is a month right?

Too the people that don't understand how marketing works or how to run a business, If they are unable to get Sponsors to cover any fee's, they have to get the money from somewhere. So of course the first few streams may have a fee but once they can show that it will be popular and companies can gain quite a bit from sponsoring the events. then There is a possibility that there wont be a fee any more.

Give Sc2 some time to grow, GOMTV is taking the right steps, we just need to support them so that Sc2 can grow and really, you wouldn't pay a couple bucks to watch the top players play?

oh of course because the TG-Intel Starcraft II Open CLEARLY has no sponsor. They just added the TG-Intel on there just for kicks.

Clearly not enough to cover all the cost. The reason why stuff like the MSL/OSL are free, is because the are a ton of sponsors or a one major sponsor.

Limiting your userbase to only the hardcore fans who will be paying for the stream will be detrimental in the long run. A large part of the first tournaments audience consisted of people who hadn't even heard of Brood War progaming before the tournament, the streams spread around the internet and people become aware of StarCraft and thus the community grew as did the amount of spectators you got.

Ah well, I am sure you're aware of all the pros and cons of the road you took and made a well calculated choice.

If you buy a $20 live season ticket, you have to buy a $30 vod season ticket if you want to see a game again (or if you missed one)? That's a bit expensive in my opinion. Shouldn't you create a "all services" ticket, including both live and VOD, for a better price than $50?

Maybe if something like this was done before, but the fact is a lot of people will not want to pay 20 bucks to watch live videos at 4 in the morning or 30 to watch games that have already happened. MLG was free, IEM was free, and those got huge audiences. I think it would have been much better if they reduced the prize pool by $40,000 and made the stream free, it would still generate as much buzz about Starcraft. But maybe they think they can make a lot of money by charging in Korea or something like that.

Yeah, Gom, I mean I like to think we'll stay close after this, but I don't think this will work out.

If games are being played in korea, its pretty useless to offer westerners a live ticket as most of them won't even be awake to view the matches. They'd need to buy the more expensive VOD ticket and thus have zero hopes of ever catching a live series.

Where are you pulling all this data from, except from assumptions and insults? All the replies sofar have been facts that have happened in the previous seasons.

They didn't go bankrupt, KeSPA forced all progamers to quit and then noone played. So, there was no point to the league afterwards.

Maybe he is right, we should all complain on their forums instead of here. Need to register though.

I can't tell if GOMTV is the guy in charge making the decisions (in which case complaining on their forums is useless), or the middleman (in which case he can then show all our complaints to whoever is in charge).
