I would have thought him getting the boot was GOOD news, because he's not really a pro gamer, just a streamer, but this is actually sickening news because it shows the poor state the community is in. What is this, 1984? Grow up. If you don't like what someone is saying or it offends you, TURN IT OFF. It's not fucking hard. If you have children and are worried about what THEY are exposed to, then DO YOUR FUCKING JOB AND BE A PARENT. I like watching (American) football, but am I going to contact the sponsorship of the New York Jets because Tim Tebow is an obnoxious fundamentalist christian assbag and try to get him fired just because I dislike his beliefs? And, more importantly, would ANYONE listen? Fuck no. Take the NFL as a legitimate professional model. If people wrote letters to NFL sponsors saying Tebow's christianity offends them, they wouldn't even get so much as a letter back, and the talentless virgin would continue to get rich for not knowing how to throw a football. But that's the professional model, and I wish esports would adapt to it, otherwise you have what happened here; the "public" (SC2 community) can get unpopular people fired at will by whining about political correctness. This is downright ridiculous. Anyone that actually REPORTS A PLAYER TO THEIR SPONSORS for what they say, you should fucking kill yourself right now, you self righteous cocksucker. "No skill douchebag" + Random caps + horrible allusion to 1984 + you should fucking kill yourself right now, you self righteous cocksucker" = Your time at TL has come to a close. The fuck? Since you don't want to be a part of TL anymore I'll just show you the door. This one kinda speaks for itself... they're getting more and more out there. Coming up next, the shocking truth about esports, the fourth reich... or something like that.
Is he implying that just having the sense to be able to debate your hateful beliefs means they are no longer racist and/or morally wrong? Am I reading that right...

I check into the Destiny thread every so often and have managed to stay out of it for the most part. I am a bit shocked at how many people still believe they gave the right to free speech no matter when, where, why, or what. I thought that horse had been corrected and beaten into dust after the Orb "scandal" but I was wrong.

The issue overall is that they think that just because you have rights from the federal government that they will not infringe, this does not mean that private citizens and institutions cannot implement their own standards. Yes you have the right to say whatever, but that does not mean that those rights do not have certain consequences.
Overall...just stay out of Destiny threads as a whole. A rather simple rule to live by.

Well, you are technically free to say whatever you want, whenever you want. It's just that sometimes there's repercussions you may have been better off avoiding. Like if I scream "Bomb" in an airport, I'm probably not having a good day.

My main problem with this is the fact that certain community members feel like they are entitled to decide how someone can or can not talk. If you don't like how someone presents themselves, that's your right, but do you really feel the need to take it to this level? Not only are you endangering a players career, a player that asks nothing from you except that you watch his games but even worse, you're endangering an entire team. . Just as Destiny feels like he's entitled to use whatever language he likes against anyone he likes, there are other people who feel entitled to report said language to his team and sponsors. What goes around comes around. Nothing too complicated about that. The difference being that one causes no actual harm and the other does. are you saying that racial slurs dont cause any harm? Oh words can hurt someones feelings sure, but this isn't direct quantifiable harm. Going after someones money has a direct and quantifiable effect that isn't in any way subjective or relative. Words spoken by a stranger over the internet hold no more power than you attribute to them. I'm not saying that being called a gook didn't hurt the OP's feelings because I have no way of knowing if they did or didn't, but I do know that messing with a person's ability to make money does cause damage. Actual, real, quantifiable damage. Try an experiment to see which one is worse: call your dog a gook every day for ten days and see what happens, then don't feed it for ten days.

Let me get this right...you mean he threatened to call your dog a racial slur? Wow...I bet you are shaking in your boots.
Just because it does not cause harm to the dog does not mean it does not cause harm to others. Some people are okay with racial slurs, others aren't. It is the same with many things and does not mean one side is more just or correct than the other.

I don't know many people who hold that view for longer than about thirty seconds after I test their willingness to apply the same courtesy in reverse.

Well, the thing is that people don't read the threads, so they just go over and over in these endless cycles of someone saying some opinion, others arguing it, them arguing back, then when that is settled, another guy comes along and states his opinions until the thread has been divided by zero and mods have to close it.

Well...that is what I mean by settled...it is the loosest sense of the word. I guess forgotten about or faded away is more apt.
