So i got a low FPS as I am recording to local. How can I record the game source without having to record it on a file. ! This has been answered quite a lot of times. Try opening the entire thread by clicking the "All" pages link and search for your issue . Ahh, I feel bad leaving you there, so: Downgrade or upgrade your DXTory client to fix the issue.
Thx. I was looking but as it was AM in the morning probably pass it :D

Hey, I've been streaming for a while now but I'm getting lag in game and it's getting to the point where I can't play sometimes. I've tried using Dxtory but it doesn't seem to make much difference to me. I think I need to get a new computer and new internet but neither are terrible at the moment (and I won't be able to improve my internet until later in the year), just not quite top notch these days. I was wondering if anyone more experienced than me could shed some light on where my bottlenecks lie and what the best way to proceed would be (in terms of needing a new computer/different settings)
For bandwidth I have 8 down, 1 up and for my pc I've got a Q6600 @ 3.2, 4GB DDR2 1066 RAM, GTX 280 GPU
I'm Quaterno on twitch/youtube where I have VODs of the quality that I've been streaming at if anyone wants to see.

DXTory should be able to help with ingame input lag, but not necessarely with low fps. So you need to explain a bit more about your issue, and give some examples of FPS without streaming and while streaming with and without dxtory.. Also include your stream settings (resolution, fps and channel settings) . The Q6600 is fine for a 480p resolution, but if you go above that you need to watch your cpu (let us know what your cpu usage is).

Can it cause lag for my viewers if my upload is very high and i set everything on best possible quality?

On March 14 2012 23:47 EU.Pink wrote: Can it cause lag for my viewers if my upload is very high and i set everything on best possible quality? When I streamed with my old computer without DXTory, I cause much lag. With DXTory I didn't cause lag but my ingame fps dropped from ~50 to ~25.

If you upload with e.g. 6-8 mbps, your viewers have to be able to download with a stable and matching speed. Unless you get partnered with a streaming provider that provides the viewers with an option to down scale the stream.

getting a new video card in a week or two..let's hope my specs will allow me to stream!

I have a 2600k and only .7mbit upload to stream with.
I was under the impression that a higher quality, higher framerate, and slower preset would help the quality increase to as high as it can really get considering my bandwidth.
People seem to say I can switch to quality 6-8, with a default preset and not affect my stream quality whatsoever (because it's being bottlenecked so to say by my upload).
I just don't want my settings creating a stream that's lower quality than my combined 600kb/s video and audio bitrate can handle.
Also, what effect does framerate really have, anyway? Would increasing fps to 60 for my low res (normally 800x600) stream help increase quality whatsoever (removing blurry areas quicker?). Or would lowering it to 20 instead of 30 increase my overall quality because each frame is a higher size?
tldr: I feel like choosing a slower preset and higher quality makes my stream look better even lower uploads with slow preset and higher quality.

Okay like most of you my FPS has been dropping dramatically like 200 to 80ish and then down to like 40-50 range when alot of units/battling when i try to stream on twitch via XSplit. I have done a few things to make it better, before it was 20 fps at beginning of the game but is there any way to make it better? PC Specs Intel Core i7 CPU 3.07GHz 2.65 GHz 8 GB ram Gfx card - GTX 480 Windows 7 64 bit
on Xsplit Resolution 1280 x 720 HD Fram rate 25 fps and i changed the scale point to 10% for less cpu usage also i went to general settings and disabled the Aero theme.
So any suggestions would be greatly appreciated
PS. My pc always runs a bit hot like mid 70 degrees celsius any suggestions on that would be pretty sweet too

That is actually about as good as it gets with your hardware. 40-50 is surprisingly high and you should be happy to achieve that.

quick question, do you guys get massive frame rate hit when you enable your mouse cursor? i find that not having mouse cursor showing improves fps by a LOT but feel that viewers wouldn't like to watch a stream as much if the cursor wasn't there.
also, i was always under the impression gpu didn't matter much for streaming, but it really does. my CPU never hits full load even on medium xsplit settings (running a i7 980x at 4.4ghz with 12core enabled on dxtory) yet i take a huge fps hit whenever i enable dxtory recording and start my xsplit stream. big fps hit on enabling mouse cursor too. even forcing dxtory to "force cpu processing" doesn't make any difference.
im streaming at 720p because it appears my gpu cant handle streaming at 1080p. streaming 1080p with my previous graphics card was fine but it was defective and that gpu caused my computer to crash so i had to get rid of it.

How do I get that Dxtory.com overlay off the screen? Other than that, excellent guide and quality!

you never mentioned your xsplit video encoding preset. what is it? what FPS is your xsplit and dxtory set to? what is your laptop's native resolution and what is your dxtory and xsplit resolution set to?
