I love the zowie celeratis keyboard very much, but I have never gotten to try all these new ones that are out now on the market compared to 3-4 years ago, if someone knowledgeable could give me a real opinion on what they think is the very best keyboard specifically for starcraft 2 play, I'd love to hear! To specify : A compact keyboard could be benefitial for SC2, because of F keys being very close to the rest of the keyboard, etc, please keep things like that in mind ^^ P.S I'm very happy with the razer blackwidow tournament edition, but I have developed a general interest in keyboards/mice since its so crucial for my profession ![]() The few keyboards I've tried with the Fkeys right above the number keys have had poor build quality. I am using a CM QuickFire TK right now, very happy with it.

They have a really solid, top-notch build-quality, and in my opinion are the cleanest, best-looking backlit mechanical keyboards out there. The CM boards are definitely still the best value mech keyboards on the market. You pay a very high premium for very small improvements in quality going from a CM board to a Ducky Shine. It all comes down to preference really.

I have a green backlit one, and I love it. I want to get a purple one at some point ![]()

It would take some time to get used to though. The common one you can get is a KBT Race. There are some other custom options out there tho. This is a guy who will do a complete custom tuned 75% race for you with aluminum frame. You will need to find some keycaps of your own. Board: http://www.gonskeyboardworks.com/custom-kbds-w-assembly/24-gon-ns-mx-mini-w-tuningassembly.html ![]() Best places for caps: https://www.originativeco.com/shop/keysets http://techkeys.us/collections/keycap-sets/ http://stores.ebay.ca/Somefeng-Geeky/_i.html?rt=nc&_sid=987669357&_trksid=p4634.c0.m14.l1581&_pgn=3 (TONS OF GREAT STUFF!) And completed my Miami project! (terrible yellow lighting) 62g clear switch ![]() The razer is an okay keyboard, my main gripe is the "gamer" look. I personally prefer the CM storm Quickfire rapid. Great price and minimalist look. When it comes to switches it really does come down to preference, you really will have to try them all to find your favorite however almost all them are just as good and likely don't really give any sort of advantage. A linear switch is smooth but you may not activate the switch if youre spamming in a game like sc2. Alot of people prefer brown or blue for SC2. The tactile bump gives good feedback, and blues give an extra clicking sound which i like to keep apm consistent. Linear i would say is much better for FPS gaming but again, most people play just fine with linear in sc2. I use 55 gram linear (half way between red/black switch). The keyboard you see above is only for typing.

However I didn't have the foresight to see that I would have trouble typing special keys (ALT + whatever) without a keypad. Is there an easy way to do this that isn't AutoHotkey? Did you look at the "US International" key layout? It might have everything you need for Spanish or whatever your problem is exactly. + Show Spoiler [US International layout] + It's a bit annoying for normal use as there are "dead" keys (it's the red colored ones in the graphic), but you can set up multiple input methods in Windows and then switch between normal US and US International with a hotkey.

Is it just the extra features like back lights, usb ports and what not? There's at least two different types of stabilizers for the large keys like Space Bar and Enter. The Cherry stabilizers seem more robust but change the way the large keys feel compared to normal keys. The Costar stabilizers seem more flimsy but the large keys feel pretty much no different compared to normal keys. There's keyboards with a metal plate holding the switches, and there's keyboards with the switches on a PCB. I guess there can be quality problems with the soldering and things like that. There were stories about the Mini-USB port for the keyboard cable on Rosewill keyboards not affixed well inside and easily breaking from normal use. I know on my keyboard (from the company "Keycool"), when I pull the key caps off, there are the switches mounted in a metal plate. I can grab the switches and move them around slightly. That seems suspicious. How the hell does that even work internally? All keys still work fine and fire signals when pressed.

I'm looking for a compact, 86 key mechanical keyboard (with brown or blue cherry switches), but I *do not* want it backlit. Anything notable comes to your mind?
