I'm looking for a brown switch board with back lighting and built solid enough to beat a guy to death with it and then put it back on my desk and start laddering again. I nearly had my mind made up on a Ducky Shine 3 or one of their similar 40 options. I had heard a lot of good things but then I made the stupid mistake of reading people's opinions online and now I'm getting conflicting reports on them. Then I am reading glowing reports about Filco boards. However, I don't think that seems likely as my girlfriend would look down on me having to take a mortgage out on the house to buy a keyboard. So, someone please just tell me what a good brown board with the things I need. I'm tired of thinking and my head hurts. Thanks ahead of time. I noticed no one responded to you regarding the Shine 3 and I figured to reply. I actually just got my Shine 3 MX Brown roughly a week and a half ago. I switched away from my SteelSeries 6GvC MX Red because I found the location of the stupid ? too annoying. Took me about... half a week to get used to the keyboard. I'm still adjusting a little and I really don't see any problems with my keyboard right now. I had a feeling some keys were a bit stiffer... but I think that MIGHT be because I was switching from MX Red into MX Brown. While I wanted a bit more media control like Pause/Play/Forward/Back like my SteelSeries, but that's alright of just having Volume Control. I did notice my Reactive Mode isn't working (?) Either that or there is something I'm doing wrong with it, but that's no big deal either because I prefer to have the lights constantly on anyway. Kinda defeats the purpose of having a keyboard backlight if you cannot see it during the night unless you're typing. All in all, I'm pretty happy with it so far, it's sturdy, getting used to it already. It feels great right now as I have gotten used to it. Of course if something goes wrong, I can switch back to my SteelSeries if need be. I didn't see any bad reports on Ducky keyboards. As far as I know, Ducky products have pretty good reputation unlike Razer products who constantly get a coin flip reputation. So, it is up to you I think. So far, I'm pretty happy with mine. I am a very fast typer and MX Brown does slow it down very slightly, but again I think it is just because am not really fully used to the keyboard yet and I'm still adjusting.

Couldn't bring my desktop with me so I only have my laptop but I still brought my Blackwidow (original model). Everything worked perfectly like expected for a couple of days but then all of the sudden from one day to another my mouse (steelseries kana) and blackwidow started randomly disconnecting. I would hear the usb disconnected sound and then all lights go off and nothing works. They would start working again if i switched them to different usb ports. This happened for a day or so and then suddenly my blackwidow just stopped working. When I plugged it in it would say usb device not recognized. Then another day later and now nothing happens at all when I plug it in, It's like it's completely dead. My mouse no longer disconnects. My first thought was that the different voltage might have something to do with it but the laptop works perfectly so I dont know. Any ideas what might have caused it ? In the extremely likely event that my blackwidow is dead and gone forever, where is the best place to pick up a new mechanical? Do you all order online? I don't really know anything about the stores here in the US but I like to get my hands on it before I buy it. I live in the bay area if it helps.

![]() https://www.massdrop.com/buy/vortex-keycaps Pretty cheap double shot PBT keycap set if we get it for $33 + shipping (free shipping to US). The font is a bit weird for some, but given everything else this is a pretty good deal.

So, after a trip to Berlin for Ti3 , i realised that the fact that i'm using a qck heavy mousepad + a full size keyboard + being left hand is giving me space problems when i want to play anywhere. At home , i use 1m20 to be fine and confortable in a arc circle way.But if i want to play in barcraft or lan again , i need to work on it so i thought about replacing my 5€ awesome full size keyboard by : A MX Brown Mechanical, Tenkeyless, Azerty keyboard. The thing is , barely find only the felco majestouch being like this and it cose 150-160 euros ... i've found some 80€ keyboards but they're not available in AZERTY layout or not in MX Brown :/ someone with more knowledge of brands available can help me to find this ? Thx <3

It should be brown as I found this about the product numbers: SGK-4020-GKCR1 (Red switch / Red LED Backlit) SGK-4020-GKCM2 (Brown switch / White LED Backlit / White Body/Backplate) SGK-4020-GKCL1 (Blue switch / Blue LED Backlit) You should contact the seller and ask if it really is an AZERTY keyboard. The actual language code is missing from the product number. There's this keyboard that is some kind of secret tip: www.amazon.fr/Cherry-G84-4100LCMFR-2-Clavier-filaire-Noir/dp/B00167T7XW/ It has a pretty strange layout and its keys are smaller than normal. It's using Cherry ML switches instead of MX. The keys don't move the full 4mm height, they only move 2mm. It's a bit like a laptop keyboard, but it's still mechanical. Some people seem to like it a lot. If you are interested to try that one, if amazon.fr works like amazon.de, you should make sure to select amazon as the seller and you'll be able to send it back if you find out you don't like it. Here's the layout it would probably have: http://i.imgur.com/PRMnzCM.jpg

If that isn't possible, make your choice on which keyboard you think looks the best (cosmetically and layout-wise)

I saw the first post and while I found it pretty informative , it left me with some doubts: let me explain, I'm a user that wishes to switch to mechanical keyboard , but the amount of choices that are available make me kinda nervous and undecisive. I don't know what to do, what switches to take and so on. From the first post: Quote + Show Spoiler + 1. Which switch is best for RTS? A: It depends. Most experts will b-line you to MX Browns. They are fairly prevalent and give you good maneuverability, much like the MX Blues. MX Reds and MX Blacks are considered "gaming" switches; They double tap much easier since they are linear, sort of like a typewriter. MX Black switches are pretty stiff, but with a week or so of use, they become much easier to press. In the end, it all comes down to preference, but what MX Browns lack in double-tapping feel they make up for in typing pleasure. I'm not totally sure at all for which keyboard I should aim So I'm thinking to aim for one of the keyboards listed down there (actually they come from the first post); but together with them, I also listed the price I would be buying them. So please advise me for what I should aim. My choices: Value/Quality: - MX Blue: Das Model S (Professional) 112 dollars - MX Blue: Das Model S Ultimate 130 dollars Value/Quality: MX Brown: Ducky 9008G2 ABS Keycaps $110 dollars Value/Quality: MX Black: Thermaltake Meka G1 $78 dollars Value/Quality: MX Red: Leopold Linear Touch - couldn't find it ... any idea about the price? Quality over all: Ducky 9008G2 PBT Keycaps, MX Brown - 108 dollars Last note: I won't be aiming only for rpg, but also, all the variety of games, from rpg to FPS to action games and so on. Help me ![]() You could get one of these, http://www.amazon.com/Max-Keyboard-Keycap-Cherry-Sampler/dp/B00E71W4O8 people seem to like them and it would let u try all the main switches out.

I love the zowie celeratis keyboard very much, but I have never gotten to try all these new ones that are out now on the market compared to 3-4 years ago, if someone knowledgeable could give me a real opinion on what they think is the very best keyboard specifically for starcraft 2 play, I'd love to hear! To specify : A compact keyboard could be benefitial for SC2, because of F keys being very close to the rest of the keyboard, etc, please keep things like that in mind ^^ P.S I'm very happy with the razer blackwidow tournament edition, but I have developed a general interest in keyboards/mice since its so crucial for my profession ![]()

cheap as hell, amazingly clicky and tactile cherry mx blue switches, full numpad, and great white/ivory plastic finish. i got this board a few months ago despite warnings of the weak micro-usb slot, to this day i havn't experienced any problems with it but i could still see how it could be an annoyance for some users. i think this is an amazing "starter" mechanical board. i'm very happy with it to this day.

Some like PBT keycaps, some ABS, or prefer a certain key cap profile. Some like full-size keyboards, some tenkeyless, some 60%. Some like production keyboards, some build their own (phantom and korean customs) Before you know it, keyboards are a hobby and you've spent thousands of dollars on a simple necessity. It's a slippery slope, you've been warned.
