I believe that peripherals are just important as the computer/device you use them with. I can't believe that people buy those wireless/bluetooth aluminum wrapped scissor switch boards made by apple. First off, the only quality part of that board is the aluminum. Second the apple logo inflates the price of that keyboard. Lastly, Any mechanical is better than those ugly and nasty feeling things. Anyways, yes it would be awesome to have a store dedicated to keyboards, but sales might be difficult as a real business.
Yeah you are right it would be difficult. But oh so awesome

If I remember correctly, the only difference between using ps/2 over usb is just NKRO vs 6KRO. It's very unlikely you'll need to use more than six keys simultaneously.

I have officially conformed over to the rabid filco lovers on TL this keyboard was worth every penny!

Shouldn't really matter. It can do NKRO via USB so the differences would be:
- PS2 works by interrupts so maybe your PC gets the input a couple of ms faster (vs USB polling every 4 or 2 or 1ms). This is just some theory I recall, could be a little wrong.
- PS2 is not hot-swap capable so you can't plug in your keyboard when the PC is already on
Side note: I have the exact same keyboard (mx red also) and I've been loving it for the past year or so... I even take it to work every day as I can't stand those standard rubber dome kb's anymore.

Quick update from me. I changed my mind again and didn't go for the Leopold. Instead I pulled the trigger on this baby, it just looks too sexy, couldn't resist.
Filco Majestouch 2 TKL Yellow (MX Blue)

debating between a tenkeyless leopold or normal version.. i dont use the number keys but it might feel bit "empty" not having it after being used to it for 10+ years. did anyone get a TKL and regret it because it felt "insubstantial"?

It takes some getting used to in terms of where to position your keyboard and your mouse but once you get used to it it's way more ergonomical. If you have no need for the numpad i'd say go for TKL.

Great choice, the yellow keys look amazing.

Not having a numpad is amazing, being able to have your hands far closer together makes gaming much more comfortable and just having more room on my desk is great.
I think TKL is a no-brainer unless you use the numpad often

Because i am getting a new computer for christmas (making a sweet bitfenix prodigy mini beast), I am wondering out of these keyboards, which provide the best value and best performance, preferably cheaper the better, but it depends on my remaining budget in the end. Main use for the keyboard is RTS, MOBA, and possibly FPS Gaming. Note that all these keyboards are 10-keys-less.
1. Razer Blackwidow Tournament Edition (Cherry Blue/$95) 2. Leopold FC500R (Cherry Black or Blue/$105) 3. Filco 10-keys-less (Cherry Black or Blue/$139) 4. Coolermaster Quickfire Rapid (Cherry Black/$85)

Not considering money I'd go Filco>Leopold>Coolermaster>Razer
considering money I'd say Filco if you really can afford it, but if the 50 dollars might be better spent towards more RAM or a step up on your video card or something, really your call/what your specs are at. If not I'd go with the Leopold for a good mix. Definitely wouldn't get the Razer, they have the worst build quality out of all of them IMO.

So guys I want to buy a mechanical keyboard for gaming. And I cant decide between the Meka G1 and Zowie Celiritas. Any suggestions which one I should take.

Does anyone have a suggestion for which grease to use on the stabilizers of the larger keys on keyboards using Costar style stabilizers? Or perhaps which grease I should avoid? I'm searching for something particularly thick that will muffle any rattling of the metal bar part of a stabilizer, and will not creep away from the spot I've put it. The grease should also not change consistency if the room temperature gets very cold or very hot.

Coolermaster hits the price/quality sweet spot imo. But its best to choose by which switch you want.

Depends if you want black (meka) or brown (Zowie) switches. Read up on it. Both are ok.

This is what Ripster says

Doesn't the Zowie have spacebar issues though? The only thing that really "stabilizes" the spacebar is the middle brown switch. The black switches on the two ends don't do much as far as I know.

It does have cherry stabilisers, which some people don't really like compared to costar stabilisers. But afaik Zowie's stabilisers are no worse than any others.

The Cherry stabilizers do "stabilize" fine, you can push the key wherever you want, and it always goes down smoothly. They just change the feel of the key a bit, as if there are o-rings installed on that key.

I have to Ducky keyboards now, one red and one brown, and I would not recommend them. They have something called "Cherry Stabilizers" on the space bar and shift keys that make them feel different than the other keys. They feel mushy. If you are going to get a mechanical keyboard, make sure they hast Costar stabilizers. This is one of those little things I really wish I knew before I dropped so much money on these keyboards.
Also, overall, having tried all of the switch types and having one of each, I would only recommend Blues and Reds.

Someone might follow your recommendation and be totally dissapointed after the purchase. You recommend them because they are the switches YOU prefer. Another person might like another type of switch.
The problem with that sentence "I would only recommend Blues and Reds." is the word only. If you had just written "I would recommend Blues and Reds." it would be totally fine saying that.
No offence taken i hope
