It's a sample version only. According to the person who owns it, that's the only one of its kind in the world.

Well, I would assume so. I meant how much it costed to make it.

probably depends on how much is stock, how many people bought those keycaps at once, and so forth. The more individual each piece is, the more expensive it gets. Eyeballing it, It's probably somewhere in the woods of $200-400 USD

When i realized that it said "useless" my mind was blown and i was left with a feeling of pity and sadness towards you.

May you one day switch from rubber-dome to mechanical my friend. Then you will realize that this thread is awesome and that everything you said previously was just your ass talking.

Until then... keep living under that rock.

This thread is the reason I went with my deck legend (absolutely amazing keyboard BTW) instead of getting yet another razer blackwidow that would've just died on me after a month or 2 again. This thread is very useful. Though it's also evil since everytime I see it I get reminded of how I want to try a new ducky, but already have an expensive keyboard

Yeah, I try to avoid reading this thread when I'm saving money.

Reading about keyboards and occasionally seeing pics makes me want to go buy 'em.

Yeah heheh. I really love my deck legend, but seeing t he pictures of all the pretty ducky 2's and seeing everyone suggest them to the guy that wanted a backlit and no one mention the deck makes me wonder if I should've waited for the shine2 to come out.

I guess with portability a concern for gamers, it's not a surprise that people in here haven't been drooling over datamancer.com's (very very expensive) art keyboards. (By art, I mean they are hand crafted, and look freaking beautiful. Not sure if they would ever work for gaming. I'd love to find out, but... yeah. Did I mention expensive?)

On a different note, I'm interested in learning about the quality of the WASD Keyboards V1 customizable model. It's reasonably priced to start with, but I'm wondering if there are any specific gotchas that could be a problem if I actually were to spend the money on the keyboard with custom keycaps etc. I've poked around searching the TL forums, but didn't see anything specific addressing the hardware in terms of "will it survive a drop?" "Does the cable spontaneously rip out of the back?" etc, etc. (Not "Can I use it to beat a mugger to death?" If I wanted that, I'd go for a Model M.)

Also, back to the datamancer keyboards, do you think they actually could be used for gaming?
Yes, I email sponsors... to thank them. Don't post drunk, kids. My king, what has become of you?

The case and cable on the WASD isn't as nice as a Filco but it is still very sturdy.
If you want customised keycaps it is a very good choice.
They even lubricate all the stabilisers, so they aren't squeaky like my Filco.

As for the datamancer, if you could get used to the key shape it might be usable. You definitely wouldn't want to slam your hand on the keyboard after a loss, could really hurt yourself.

I would argue gamers are more concerned about comfort, quality, and price over portability. If you were referring to the TKL as being the portability solver, most people tend to get them because it feels better to have your hands closer when gaming. However, I'm not saying some people do buy TKL keyboards for that reason though.

Anyways as to whether it could be used for gaming is rather difficult to gauge, at least to my knowledge, because of the uncertainty of the actuation force required to push on those keys. I'd doubt they'd make it impossible, but I'd reckon you may have a bit of difficulty between switching keys often like in an RTS game. Although these are just all assumptions.

For me personally it was the #1 reason to buy a TKL, actually. Ergonomically it's just way better to have your right hand that much closer to the keyboard whilst using the mouse. Once i got used to TKL by using a microsoft X6 with the numpad removed it felt so incredibly awkward to return to full size again, it felt like i was doing stretches or something :p

Also, personally i'd say those datamancer keyboards are horrifyingly ugly and also insanely priced, but i don't think they are going to be "bad for gaming" or anything like that. Then again i don't think they were designed with that in mind either, so your milage may vary.

I don't. One thing I like about the numpad on the left is using my right thumb to press enter after partially typing a URL I have typed before.

Well I didn't really miss using the actual numpad thingy, just the enter on the right.

I don't drool over datamancer's stuff because half of them are ugly and all of them are way too expensive, with mechs I like looking at keyboards that I could reasonably think that I'd own one day.

I bought a TKL because it was cheaper and because I never used the numpad for anything anyway.
