I thought x86 is linked to 32 bit windows, for example when installing windows 7 64bit one is to select the x64 option and when installing 32 bit one is to select the x86 option. Edit: Lol, that makes sense.

The reason I'm asking is, lots of my friends have laptops from 3 years ago that could play everything at low (which is fine by me). But I'm shopping around now, and most of the cheap deal use Intel HD 3000 integrated graphics card, and I'm not sure that is sufficient... One would think that any laptop at this age should be able to play SC2... Please help!

Ideally you want like a Core i5-2xxx or maybe Core i3-2xxx (with the integrated HD 3000 is okay). The AMD laptop processors are much slower and are not as good in lategame scenarios when there are battles between large armies, and the game requires a lot of the CPU. Too bad Ivy Bridge dual cores aren't available yet, or those would have even better performance. The Ivy Bridge quad core laptops would probably be too expensive for you.

My current rig i3-2100 4gb ram 550w psu radeon 6850 I think asus p8h67 Now I feel like upgrading my rig sometime this summer.. hopefully within August. I mostly game w/ my computer on a 24" monitor 1080p, I ocassionally use dual monitors when I feel like browsing while gaming. I know that the radeon 7850 + the ivy bridges(4 cores) are out or should be out really soon, but I was wondering if its worth upgrading to those with my current rig. Money isn't an issue but of course I don't want to spend it if I don't need to.

Edit: I mean christ. A Dell Ultrasharp U2412M is basically the same price as that monitor. Only with much better viewing angles, stock colour accuracy, ergonomic features, 16:10, as well as far better warranty support.

No I don't, I got my original monitor this past xmas (which I assume why it was so cheap), was listed on amazon at the time for around $200. I was looking to match simply for aesthetic purposes, I already have a second monitor that does the job fine. As far the other things you've mentioned, I have no problems with viewing angles, probably couldn't tell you the difference as far as color accuracy goes, and current monitor will do 16:10 as well as 4:3m fullscreen using the aspect ratio control, and my current monitor has a 3 year warranty. Not sure what Dell's is but my experiences with Dell have been laughable at best, although I haven't used them in years. Discontinued anyway, oh well ![]()

I've used basically every monitor brand you can think of from the low end like BenQ and Acer to ultra high-end like Eizo and NEC. Ultrasharps are typically very damned good for the price you pay for them with some extremely good warranty support if you get through Dell's phone system. What the Dell U2412M doesn't have is a scaler for 1:1 pixel mapping...which is pretty much the only major flaw it has since it does pretty much everything else better than most 60hz displays. There's a monitor thread for people who don't mind spending a bit of money on a nice display.

Like most tech companies (Sony, Samsung, HP, etc.), their consumer hardware lineups are utter trash. Their corporate and professional, if they have one, lineup are miles better than their consumer hardware. Ultrasharps are their high end corporate hardware. If I was looking for a new main monitor, that seems like a great choice, but I'm extremely happy with my current main monitor and was upgrading the secondary, so I'll probably just grab a cheaper one since I really don't do anything too intense on the second. Thanks again for the quick response, TL <3
