I just got this keyboard in the mail today. Typing on it feels really amazing. The only complaint that id have is that its a bit loud. A lot louder than my old keyboard, you can really feel the "click" when typing, and I think I actually type faster and make less mistakes on this keyboard after only having it for an hour.
Gaming on it takes a little bit to get used, I've been gaming on a regular keyboard for 10+ years so of course switching right into a mechanical one will take some getting used to.
The build is really well done. Its really heavy.
For 95 dollars its a really good deal and I don't regret buying it one bit. Just make sure you have some really loud music on while massing ladder on sc2 or you might get a headache from hearing the clicks of the keyboard lol.
If you have any questions about it feel free to pm me.

I got mine about a week ago, and then went on vacation for a week so I haven't been using it quite as much as I'd like.
It feels totally natural for me, and once I got over the typing errors (key spacing is slightly different than on my last keyboard) it feels fantastic.
One thing to note: If you hit the caps lock during a game, all the commands you issue will be waypointed. Seeing as I spam click, that game got really interesting. -_-
So, be aware that caps lock being on is apparently the same input as holding down the shift key.

Since caps-lock is a useless key in a prime location, it's useful to remap it to something else. Backspace, Control or Shift are popular mappings.

To be honest i don't think it was the mechanical keyboard part that took me a little to get used to it for gaming, its probably just because the layout is different and of course with anything new it takes a little getting used to.

I ordered my Filco from army group and so they actually included a retractable brush in it for free, and I have one of those rocket air blasters (not the duster cans) and I use the plastic cover that goes over the Filco that comes with the box whenever I'm not using the keyboard. So, I don't really have to clean the keyboard, but I do try to keep it clean as much as possible, especially since I spent $160 and I really do not want to end up having to pull all the keycaps off to get the crap that may accumulate underneath it that I have done with other rubber dome keyboards.
As for whether I touch the edges, I probably wouldn't, but still, I don't want to have to deal with it. And I don't know if its me, but anything glossy tends to attract dust like no other. Maybe it's just easier to see, so I tend to stay away from electronics that are glossy in general.

I am excited for the Leopolds, though I wish other Cherry switches would be used, I am particularly interested in the Cherry MX Clears, I've heard they are like a stiffer Brown. Theres also Cherry MX red which are supposedly easier to push Cherry MX blacks.

Just got this keyboard today and love it. I'm a recent convert to mechanical keyboards (this is my first) and I'm very satisfied. Spent a little time just typing on it to get the feel and it's worth every penny. A great price for a great keyboard - the reviews are all dead on.
If you're considering it - go for it. I was on the fence and I'm really pleased with it.
Great work OP! I wouldn't have considered this if you hadn't started this thread!

Hey guys! New to the forum here so i'm not allowed to post any threads for a little while ><
anyway,
I was wondering if there was a market for this keyboard anywhere in Australia. I've done plenty of searches on TL and Google but it seems that Newegg doesn't ship internationally and i can't find a store that has this sort of keyboard in stock in Australia.
Would appreciate some help if possible

You may have to go to armygroup and get a Filco which are pricier than the Rosewill.
Geekhack has a guide and translation as to how to order from armygroup, someone translated the webpage and has a step by step.

I ordered a Filco Majestouch full size with Cherry MX Browns from them. Got a lot of freebies too, including a filco keycap puller, yellow WASD keys, a brush to clean the keyboard an a filco keycap

YOU HAVE NOT GOTTEN IT YET, YOU CANNOT RECCOMEND IT.
Also, lots of keyboards have cherry switches.

I have the keyboard now and I recommend it

So this keyboard is going to be available in 2 days on newegg. I've been wanting to get a mechanical keyboard for the longest time now because I've been a gamer my whole life and did not even know about them. I want the browns but there are none around and I am afraid the Leopold will be too expensive, and I also feel that 100$ is a fair amount for any keyboard.
I am only afraid that the blue switches might be too loud, I live alone so I am not worried about it annoying anyone else but me. I normally play in complete silence, occasionally with TV but never with SC2 music or sounds. And is this keyboard really really good for sc2? That is all I care about.

To be honest its kind of loud yea, but if you're in an intense sc2 match or have music on you wont notice it at all.
And its good for sc2, it will take a few games to get used to if you've never used a mechanical keyboard but after that you'll never want to go back to a normal keyboard.
For you I would get some brown switches, it sounds like that would fit you better. The RK-9000 is a great keyboard though, its a bit loud thats the only reason I would recommend the brown switches for you. I think the leopolds are going to be cheaper than the filcos from what I read, I'm guessing like 110-120 dollars+shipping, around there. A little more expensive than the RK-9000 but if you're willing to wait a bit for them I would just wait until you can get some brown switches and pay a little more.
Hope this helps.

How does the rosewill keyboard compare to the razer black widow? The razer is stated to be good for 50 million keystrokes while the rosewill is stated to only be good for 20 million. Is razer stretching the truth or is something else going on?
|
no one will be able to answer your 'endurance' question. the razer hasn't been out long enough really for people to be able to vouch for it as a long-lasting keyboard
|
For anyone still interested in the Rosewill RK-9000, it's back in stock for $100 at both Newegg (add $7.87 for shipping) and ChiefValue (free shipping).
I would bite on the Rosewill after hearing so many good reviews about it, but I'm looking towards getting brown switches over the blue and thus waiting for EK and the Leopold/Archiss to come to the US.
