With das keyboard I can get linux penguin key, which is kind of cool. I think I'm going to go with that. The price seems to be pretty much the same. NKRO is unimportant to me. I do code a lot so blue may be better for that. I've been frugal all year, I deserve a present.

I thought production stopped on those keyboards because of the advent of non-mechanical technology to make cheaper keyboards.

Even if you look at SC today they use non mechanical keyboard cheap samsung made ones that they blow though.

Actually, a lot of people were talking about the mouse too, and mice and even mouse pads in general get more attention from gamers and from manufacturers than keyboards do. Most gamers can recognize the mice pros use, and they're widely available, but relatively few know about the keyboards, that's why there's more attention paid. The keyboard thing is also newsworthy. Everyone knew many progamers used gaming mice, but it was assumed that they all used cheap membrane keyboards. That's changed now that several top pros (including Fruit Dealer, Boxer, Tester...) have been seen using premium mechanical keyboards, in some cases using them in favor of keyboards made by their sponsor! I don't think anyone has claimed a keyboard will make you a pro. A mouse won't make you gosu either. People drop $50-80 or more on mice all the time. Razer sells a $60 mouse pad! (I use a sweet DS9 Rom mouse-pad I got for Christmas like 15 years ago).

Do some people think it's going to make them way better at the game? Maybe. But no decently sensible person actually thinks that. Not only that but as the post above me has stated, there is plenty of hype over other equipment as well. I use the G9x and can vouch for its awesomeness. It's just such a flexible and comfortable mouse.

EDIT: Weird, I was looking at an old version of the thread with a question about how to remove the keycaps.

I don't honestly believe that buying a nice keyboard will make me a lot better at playing SC2. I do believe, however, that it is an indirect and contributing factor. Comfort is a big deal when I'm playing SC and if I don't feel good physically and mentally, I can see that projected into my gameplay. I enjoy having a much better feeling mouse and keyboard and it plays a huge roll on my mental state. Furthermore, when I sit down to play a session, I make sure that all of my peripherals are positioned nicely, the temperature is just right, and my desk area is clean. I want to be as comfortable as I possibly can be, and I don't mind paying extra money to do so. These things might not make a huge difference, but I do know that I have played my best games when I am feeling great, so I am going to try to always be at that level from now on. This might not be everyone's reasoning, but it's certainly mine.

If you don't have that you can easily just use a flat head screw driver but you have to start at the edges where you can lift the keys up not bend the keys.

You have to start at the edge of the keyboard at like grave or with alt and windows keys else you will break keys =p You also don't want to use the screwdriver as a seasaw. You want to insert it under the key then turn the screw driver not push down against the keyboard. This lifts the key by the center =p
