Weekly Cup Competitions Week of April 27 - May 4The weekly recaps are back after a short hiatus, keeping you abreast of the developments in the online tournament scene.
The last week of April brought us a new online cup in the form of the Big Gabe Open, though it remains unclear how regular these events may be. Still, even on an irregular schedule, any new tournament is welcome—could we actually see a weekly quintuple winner in the coming months?
In any case, Clem was the most successful player on the week, hauling in a weekly triple. Classic and ByuN also took 1v1 cup victories, while the 2v2 bonjwas Spirit and MaxPax claimed the May uThermal cup.
*Partial brackets may be shown.
April 27: WardiTV Mondays #84

The week began with a stacked WardiTV Mondays, despite the absence of herO who took a rare day off. The end result was a 'throwback' finals between Clem and MaxPax, with Clem taking a narrow 3-2 victory over his rival (VOD).
The finals progressed at a surprisingly fast pace, with MaxPax taking a 2-1 lead in quick games decided by early-game skirmishes. However, Clem took the upper hand as the series slowed down, earning the comeback victory in two longer, standard games.

April 27: Monday Night Weeklies #49

Both Clem and MaxPax retired for the night after WardiTV Mondays, which made Monday Night Weeklies turn into a mini-GSL as the bracket progressed on. Classic ended up besting his Korean peers in Solar and ByuN, claiming the weekly title as his prize (VOD).

April 28: 2026 Kung Fu Cup #6
![[image loading]](/staff/Waxangel/misc/weeklies/KFC2026_6.png)
ByuN presaged his 4-0 advancement in GSL Code S with a great showing in the Kung Fu Cup, taking down Rex, Percival, Solar, and herO on the way to a cup victory (VOD).
ByuN's 3-0 sweep over herO was particularly striking, with ByuN's early-game tactics giving him a winning advantage on every map. While much of ByuN's TvP success in online cups has come on the back of standard play, the series was a reminder that he can be deadly at every stage of the game.

April 28: PiGosaur Cup #79
![[image loading]](/staff/Waxangel/misc/weeklies/pig079.png)
Clem progressed to weekly double status in PiGosaur Cup, going perfect through the entire bracket without a single map loss (VOD). In a rarity for Clem these days, he actually played a Terran player in ByuN during the finals, activating his top-notch PvT off-racing.
ByuN took a rather creative approach to the finals, incorporating both a 1-base all-in and fast Hyperflight Rotors-Banshees build into his gameplan. However, Clem was unrattled by either stratagem as he took a clean 3-0 sweep.

HeroMarine continued his exploration of the tournament organizer space, hosting the first Big Gabe Open Cup. The addition of an extra cup gave Clem the opportunity he needed to score a weekly triple, as he took out Percival, Solar, and Classic along the way (VOD).
TvP can look hopeless for either side of the match-up depending on what kind of form you catch Clem playing in, and this happened to be one of those weeks where it felt like no one had a chance of beating the TL ace. The fearsome Protoss Zealot printer ended up feeding straight into Clem's Zealot shredder as he took a dominant 3-1 win in the finals.

Reigning uThermal tour champions MaxPax-Spirit reminded everyone of their place atop the 2v2 scene, winning the May monthly cup with a flawless map score. The duo had only played together once this season, winning January's Bonus Cup #1. While many other pairings had flourished during their absence, the elite duo served notice to all other contenders with their great comeback showing (VOD).
