There actually is an Asrock ZH77. What in the hell are they thinking? It's an H77 chipset... http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/ZH77 Pro3/ When I saw ZH77 though, I immediately thought of MSI's stupid PH67 boards (and I'm sure other manufacturers do it too). It's like the stupidest thing ever. They label it as the H67 chipset but it can't use the CPU's integrated graphics. So at a minimum it's confusing customers by deviating from standard chipset features. It's not technically a lie I guess since the chipset "allows" but doesn't "require" using the integrated graphics but still, it's downright stupid and annoying. With regard to VRM quality, I have this list bookmarked and IIRC it is from a legit source. At least it looks legit: http://sinhardware.com/images/vrm.jpg Myrmidon might want to chime in some more on this as he's someone who actually knows what he's talking about with regard to this stuff.

Not really. I've got 0 experience in analog circuit design, passed through with minimum required credits in circuits, electronics. I'm not familiar with that link, but it looks like a good resource, if a bit biased towards all the expensive models. It's the bargain models that people are wondering about. We should hope that $200 motherboards have great VRMs. For high-speed electronics like that (think of how dynamic CPU power draw is, the switching between phases), layout can be a big deal; it's not just about which parts are used. Where are all the power traces routed, and next to what? That said, you're not going to know if the layout is good by visual inspection. Hopefully the engineers are competent, the proper number of simulations / prototypes / whatever were spun, and the final result is optimized well enough. Gigabyte UD5 is fairly premium, which doesn't actually help most people in any tangible way, unless you're talking about lining the manufacturer's pockets. You actually have a use for all the extra features? One day you're going to wake up and want to try competitive overclocking with subzero cooling? Or not. Corsair 500R is kind of expensive for what it is: a convenient, functional midtower ATX case without particularly good (not bad) cooling or acoustics. SeaSonic 620W is solid but dated, usually overpriced. It's about the right wattage to run SLI, but it only has 2 PCIe power connectors natively. If you're spending that much money on the build in general, surely there's something else that's better and actually has 4 connectors natively, so you won't have to use adapters (which work fine except when rarely they might come loose, but it feels like a cheap kludge to plan a build around that). If you have no dreams of SLI, that really looks like the wrong motherboard and an overkill power supply that's not even of upper-tier quality.

I'm going to guess there's probably something cheaper than Corsair Vengeance RAM, so you might want to take that instead. I don't expect much of a price difference though. Which Gigabyte cooler is it using? It think you probably want something else. Gigabyte's: http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Gigabyte/HD_7770_OC/25.html Others (note the model; sometimes they have multiple cooler designs per GPU, certainly for the Sapphire): http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/ASUS/HD_7770_DirectCU/25.html http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Sapphire/HD_7770_Vapor-X/27.html http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/HIS/HD_7770_iCooler/27.html Pure Power L7 should be fairly quiet, but it's on the low side of quality (but not to the point of saying that you definitely should replace it) You purposefully chose a 5400rpm, 2.5" (laptop) hard drive for lower noise, lower performance? I don't think Antec 300 mounts 2.5" drives though. Or if they have an adapter, they probably don't have a second one for the SSD too. You might be able to get something a little worse than B75 Pro3, but there is probably not much to be saved there. A Core i5 shouldn't be run that hard in such a system, to bring it to 100% load. Maybe you can get by with the stock cooler and setting the fan speeds to be lower. There are some reasonable low-cost, low-noise aftermarket CPU cooler options though. firstoff thx and sorry for the late reply. which case would you recommend then around 50€`? thx for the tip about the gigabyte cooler, just grabbed a random 7770 and had decent expirience so far with gigabyte. i chose the drive cause f that reasons, performance doesnt matter that much since 90% stored there will be music (hes a dj) and it was also the cheapest 500gb drive. corsair ram was also cheapest decent brand ram ,8gb for 38€. what low cost low noise coolers would you get? so overall change case, maybe ignore aftermarket cooler and grab a different 7770?

What is your budget? I don't want to spend over 400 USD but I might be able to talk myself into 500 if the difference in capabilities and longevity is worth it. What is your resolution? 1280x1024 but I'm considering getting a 1650x1050 monitor sometime in the medium future. What are you using it for? I want to: Stream BW, stream anime, emulate PS2 and Wii, play modern games on medium settings, and perform everyday work and browser multitasking. I want it all to be smooth. My current machine can currently do all those, but with unplayable choppiness in BW, GW2, Tera, 1080p anime, and a good number of PS2 and Wii games. What is your upgrade cycle? I don't know what I plan for the future but I've only built one PC for myself and this is the first time I'm upgrading it in 4 years. When do you plan on building it? I was thinking of waiting till late November for deals. Do you plan on overclocking? Only as much as whatever hardware I get allows. If it doesn't allow for much, that's fine as long as it does what I need it to do. Do you need an Operating System? No. Do you plan to add a second GPU for SLI or Crossfire? No. Where are you buying your parts from? I live in the USA and plan to use Newegg mostly but I live near a Microcenter so if there are any amazing deals there I'd like to take advantage of them. = My current parts look like this: Intel Pentium e6300 Wolfdale, 4GB DDR2, GeForce 9600 GT in a Raid Max Smilodon. I've been able to play X-Com: EU, Mark of the Ninja, Borderlands 2, and any other games I wanted to play with complete stability. I just want to play them more quickly and smoothly. Here is my current Newegg wishlist: http://secure.newegg.com/WishList/PublicWishDetail.aspx?WishListNumber=20620585 Any suggestions? Unrelated question: so all the temperature programs I've used tell me that my e6300 goes up to 100 degrees Celsius whenever I do anything that demands CPU, be it BW, Mark of the Ninja, Faster Than Light, or emulating Pokemon. I'd guess that that's a dangerously high temperature to be running at, but I've been playing BW... and I guess Pokemon too... for years now and it still functions. My friend told me that overheating is just what this CPU does. Does anyone have any more information on what the deal is with the e6300 and how hot I'm seeing it as?

Ask again in late November, since prices will be changed by then. Right now the 650ti is not a good choice (half length card for full length price) but sales can change that. nVidia has been having a hard time matching AMD price/performance in every price range you can think of, so I hope you aren't beholden to them. Also i would warn against 1680X1050 monitors. I love mine, but the industry is clear, 16 ![]()

http://secure.newegg.com/WishList/PublicWishDetail.aspx?WishListNumber=15661189 can you guys review the build now please? i took some of your advice into consideration. i realize that the haf xm was expensive and too big so i changed it but not with the $50 case. just the 922 because i dont like the silver/paintless finish inside that case. also, i kept the 550w because its only $20 more, its modular & i do plan on using crossfire. is 550 enough for this? i swapped the plextor with a samsung 830 too. i woulod like to maybe hear some of your suggestions for a motherboard thats good for overclocking thats better than the gigabyte ud3 or udh3 @ $150 each. thanks forhelping me fellas edit: also have a computer question. currently when my computer goes into sleep mode it almost compeltely turns off. it used to be on and move the mouse and it wakes up, but now its like "in a deep sleep" lol where it seems the computers off. when i click the keyboard the fans start going again etc. takes like 15 seconds to get it going. is ther a setting for this? or something not right here

A Capstone 550w would be fine for reasonably clocked 7870s with a 3570k during a gaming load but you would be forced into using molex to PCIe adapters. Probably not something for you since you're concerned about internal aesthetics so you'd probably want to get the 650w variant. HAF 922 is sort of dated and not really worth $100 when you get HAF XM for like $10 more...

That being said if you were planning on budgeting for 2 7870's you can just get a 7950 instead and call it a day. But don't get the XFX Double Dissipator model. Its garbage. And XFX also lasers the dual BIOS off the PCB to save money.
