Life has been charged. Arrested and charged as per the OP's translation.
Also it's very important to note the exact charge is not match-fixing, but for receiving money for match-fixing. That means there's a paper trail connecting Life.
I know innocent until proven guilty, but in high profile cases (yes this counts) they aren't going to jump the gun on formally pressing charges. So even if he avoids a guilty verdict, I doubt he'll be able to dodge a KeSPA ban.

I hope it's strictly correct, because as you can see from the page 255 (Google's numbering) of The Quality of Life in Korea: Comparative and Dynamic Perspectives, the difference of conviction rates for those merely arrested and those that are indicted by the prosecutor is huge. About half of people arrested in contrast to almost all that are prosecuted.
Edit: I actually read this wrong, seems like if you believe this chart and dramatic changes haven't happened since 1999, even prosecution hasn't been that certain to result in conviction and arrests are far, far away from that. Not sure what to think of this graph now since it seems be saying very different things compared to many other sources regarding the conviction rate.

BTW, that doesn't mean what you think it means. The discrepancy between conviction and prosecution rate isn't just people being found not-guilty. I'm pretty certain that the vast majority of it is made of up people taking plea deals.
That's how it works in the US anyways, the majority of cases are actually plead out rather than tried in a courtroom.

Yeah, didn't think of that, it does sound possible. I noticed that most of the sources citing very high conviction rates refer to a study that used statistics from between 1984-1992 so the rates of crime, arrest and prosecution have definitely dramatically changed after that. It's reflected in the graph there so for that part it could be accurate.

To claim someone just made one small mistake is just plain wrong. As a korean eSports pro there is one thing you just know: You shall not matchfix! This is not something where you were young and drunk and wanted to show off and cause of that crashed your parents car into a wall. It is a planned crime initiated by a well organized group of criminals. He most likely acted out of pure greediness.

Apparently plea bargains are not part of the Korean justice system but they do have something called "habui" that serves a similar purpose except is pretty limited in what kinds of crimes it can be applied to. Even in the USA it seems like many pleas do still result in conviction but I have no idea how it is with the Korean system...

is he still locked up in jail or out on bail or something? any news of the hearing

Afreeca Freecs should hire DongRaeGu if Life isn't coming back. They need another strong player. Last year, DongRaeGu showed really strong Proleague performances while he was on SBENU.
|
KT should give Afreeca Freecs back the money they got from the trade (I assume they got some)

When are we getting an update on the situation? Is he scheduled to appear in court, does he have a defense attorney...?

My guess would be never. We haven't heard anything about Yoda or B4

Yeah but they're small potatoes. I get that Life isn't exactly Tiger Woods, even in Korea, but this information should still be out there somewhere.
Weird that there hasn't been any statement at all. When MarineKing was being investigated, MKP and Choya both released public statements affirming his innocence. This time there's absolutely nothing, not from Life, not from KT, not from ST/Afreeca. Obviously part of that is due to timing (neither team feels responsible for him - he's off KT but not quite in Afreeca) but I'm sure part of that is how far this has progressed and how evident his guilt is to all these parties. It's very telling.
