This post makes you look bad. No one watches SC2 streams to watch someone act like a D-bag. Especially if that person has not streamed SC2 in over a year, and only streamed LOL. The fact that person gets awarded over someone like Desrow(who helps the sc2 community) is pathetic. And your pathetic if you watch SC2 streams to watch people rage or act like idiots, it makes you look bad.

LingBling's post was terrible but no, some people do not watch streams for entertainment, or at least don't associate entertainment with the same things you do. God forbid some people just want to see really good plays, regardless of game. And likewise, look at many pros, they don't play for entertainment, they play because it's their job, and when their job becomes too frustrating they retire or switch to games they like better. ![]()

I hate pious little fucks like you who whine that other people dare to like something they don't see as meritorious. Not even a Destiny fan just this incessant bitching is beyond annoying. I agree on the pros not playing for entertainment tho.

as for Destiny, there is a reason why his viewership is always most numerous, no matter who he competes with at the time. saying it's just cuz "people stupid" and calling him "entertainer" as if that was something bad is ridiculous. if anything, other personal streams should be more like his, and for top notch games we would always have tournaments. one could say that if we had less tournaments (ie. right now asus vs iem at the same timeslot is just hurting my brain), maybe the hype for the really really good players showing their skill would be bigger, cause you wouldn't get that dose of competitiveness from personal streams. in that way, more guys following destinies recipe would actually be helping "esports". easier to hate i guess...

Why is any PR/marketing move by Blizzard seen as desperate? Nothing wrong with rewarding the people who promote your games and contribute to the community.

Can you really say he put in more effort then Day9 to the sc2 scene? Considering Day9 got featured in Forbes for his work in sc2 I'm going to give you some time to develop a well worded reply to this. I don't see how a Forbes feature has anything to do with the qualities of their respective streams, but sure, that's cool. I wouldn't try to argue that Destiny is a more important eSports personality than Day[9]. But that is exactly my point - this isn't about who is the ambassador for Starcraft 2, this is about who puts out the best stream. Destiny streams way more than Day[9], any comparison between the two would look silly. Who puts in more effort? Day[9] has a professional and structured format, and probably spends several hours on preparations alone. Destiny on the other hand is more of an ad liber - he can get into almost any topic and make that funny or interesting, and he puts out way more hours of entertainment. But frankly, I don't give a damn who puts in more effort. What I do care about is what kind of entertainment I get. I know that for a large part of the day Destiny will be streaming, and I can watch that stream and have a good time. That's the only thing that matters. I'm not saying that the other streamers are bad though, it's just a matter of personal preference (and that's what we're voting on, isn't it?). I voted Day[9] in the educational category, I hope that satisfies your ego.

You're giving the streamers who are self-sustaining and make money out of it, more money, because they are popular enough to get the votes. Because they already have big channels. It's the same problem with Youtube these days, bigger channels just get bigger and bigger due to cross-promotion and the way the site currently works. It's Blizz's money so they can do what they wish with it, I just feel there are more intelligent ways to go about it. Publicising smaller streamers, more stuff in the client to show the varied content that people are producing.

Publicising smaller streamers, more stuff in the client to show the varied content that people are producing. To be fair though, streamers hardly make alot of money from twitch nowadays. The ad-revenues are supposedly much lower than they were two years ago, and sustaining yourself by streaming relies alot on sponsorships, subscriptions and donations. And it's not like Blizzard are taking money from their game development budget - this is marketing resources being spent on dedicated streamers who have been promoting their games. I agree though that it's problematic that small streams are experiencing very limited growth due to the way that these services are set up, but that's just the name of the game I guess.

I don't know about SC2 streams nowadays, but the bigname Hearthstone streamers have a lot of subscribers and tend to get a lot of donations too so ad-revenue is not that big of a deal for them...
