People complain about it not being complete region lock, and when they lock the region people play, people continue to complain. Obviously people complain when they have different opinions. That's like pointing out that even though people cheered when Real Madrid scored a goal, they also cheered when Barcelona scored a goal. Just because in both cases it was "people" doing the cheering or complaining doesn't mean the groups are the same sets of individuals.

It's completely in a vacuum, it would be a rather silly decision to knowingly lower the potential of your games for no reason other than because your rule book didn't consider it beforehand. No one has presented a reason for this to be on NA that makes the least bit of sense. Are you kidding? The reason is it's a NA tournament. You are giving way too much credit to the best game possible. We can find better games in ZOTAC VODs. WCS NA is interesting for an entirely different reason.

Their match, as mentioned earlier by heyoka and waxangel, is essentially in a vacuum because the server that they play on doesn't affect any of the other players. Of course vs the other people in the group they're going to play on NA, I don't see any problem with that - it's WCS NA so of course it should be on that server. But to force them to play with high latency just for that? It's ridiculous.

If you want to maintain the 'NA' part, by all means go that way. If you're going that route don't INVITE HerO to your tournament, and then make him play on Kr, fuck sake.

No one has presented a reason for this to be on NA that makes the least bit of sense. Because it sets the clear standard that if you want to play in WCS NA, you play on the NA server. The effect of the region locking is already questionable but I'm all for making it as obnoxious and inconvenient for people outside the region to play in what seemed to be region specific tournaments. In other words, I'm okay with both Major and HerO having to deal with lag if the final result is them reconsidering choosing a region other than their own to compete in.

Such a choice should be at a personal deficit, as it encourages home competition. The only people it punishes are the viewers, who get to watch top players play safe and possibly boring games due to risk of lag. One of them is going to advance regardless, why not have the highest possible quality games? Makes no sense given how trivial it is to switch regions in HotS.

If they allow KR server play, people will blame them for ruining the "NA WCS" for not being NA friendly etc etc. I completely understand why MLG doesn't bother responding to most of these drama-esque complaints, unless they hit critical mass. What are you talking about? They just want to play using the KR server at whatever time MLG wants. Nothing changes except just connecting to KR server for the matches where both players are living in KR instead of NA. Or if both players had been in EU for Dreamhack then both use the EU server for that specific match. Nobody loses anything and in fact we get better quality games since there is less lag between the players. I just don't get why people are for this other than "rules are rules".

Then let the games be played in the NA server to select the one best at ADAPTING to playing in NA server, for the viewability of all the subsequent matches.

Advantage to play on NA when both are in korea: "i'm following a rule so i can sleep at night thinking i'm doing something good..."
