Rules are rules and we should follow them to the best of our ability but this is silly.

I actually support this, it further punishes people for playing outside of their home region. Such a choice should be at a personal deficit, as it encourages home competition.

That's idiotic. What advantage is there to making them play on the NA server? None. All it will do is reduce the quality of the games.

It sucks for players, but as a spectator/fan that doesn't want to see WCS NA be a korean slaughter fest, I agree with the decision. If you want "easy wins/money/points", be prepared to make sacrifices. Even if it's korean vs korean (location wise), they made a choice

There is no good reason to have two players play on a particular server when they both agree, and want, to play on another. Especially considering the fact that the tournament is open to any player in any region...AND that by playing on a different server (NA) they will not be able to play to their full potential.

It never ends with MLG...it never ends..

According to MajOr's tweet, he and HerO will have to play their WCS America matches on the NA server, despite the fact that they both reside in Korea.

While that's probably technically correct if you're following the rules of the tournament to the letter, it's a remarkably inflexible decision.

It degrades the WCS tournament by knowingly allowing the level of competition to be lowered, is a discourtesy to the players who want to be able to fully show the skills they have honed through hundreds of hours of practice, and is a disservice to the fans who are expecting the be shown the highest level of gameplay possible.

When you consider that region switching is even built into the HotS client, then it's an even more confusing and perplexing decision. Hopefully both players have protested and have had the decision changed.

It's WCS NA. It's for whoever is better at playing on the NA server.

Actually, you made that up.

I mean... it's the rules. It's not like they are both playing each other on EU from KR. Sure it's a little inconvenient but it probably wont change the result of the game.

It's their choice. Also, the rules. People complain about it not being complete region lock, and when they lock the region people play, people continue to complain.

I honestly don't see what the problem is. It's WCS NA. If you're going to play outside your region either move or deal with the lag.

What about people out of the country because they want to train in Korea, or because they participated in an European or Korean tournament during a week-end and haven't had the time (or the energy) to get back home, or because they want to help their team win a team league, such as Proleague?

I do, but only because I want MLG to get yelled at some more until they learn to stop being this way.

No, they want all the Koreans and Mexicans stealing their jobs to suffer.

foreigners aren't going to be helping any team win a korean team league any time soon

It's WCS NA. It's for whoever is better at playing on the NA server. Maybe instead of complaining about playing WCS NA on the NA server, they could play WCS KR on the KR server. It's a deterrent, because it adds uncertainty to the game.

Well, it's not that much uncertainty. One of them has to win the match. That's the inevitable result of them being paired against each other. One player residing in KR but playing on NA will end up in the winner's match of Group A.

That's not a counter to Wax's argument.

I agree w/ MLG on this. If you want to play WCS NA then you're on NA. Deal with it.

I watch WCS on and off anyway, so there's no guarantee that I'll even watch these games. I do want WCS NA to played on the NA server though. Call me crazy.

And to be specific. Yes, I'd rather watch sub-par games on the NA server that'll further cement the region specificity of WCS, because that was the whole point of WCS and is something that WCS is already kind of failing at.
