Imho it kinda misses the point by allowing Koreans to play the NA or EU tourneys. Why would a Top Korean go through the much harder Korean qualification when he can just play on NA without a too noticable delay. (KR to EU will probably not happen that much because of this)
On one hand it feels a bit silly that koreans can participate in NA or EU but it's also a bit more fair. Having a tournament this big for which 10 out of the top 16 players would otherwise be non-korean would be silly. I guess there is a good chance this will turn out to be mostly koreans but honestly I think it should be if this is a WCS. I wonder what format the final 16 will be, because having a tournament this big end up with just a knockout tournament or something like it would be silly. I hope for something like a week offline finals with pools and bo7s to determine the winner.
1) They should have a system like in the world cup in football: people can only qualify through their region, but the koreans get more spots in the tournament. (ie, OSL and GSL shouldn't be devaluated because of Koreans trying to find easier leagues to qualify from.)
2) They should have made GSTL and PL into one big team league and give out points for wins towards the global tournament. Team leagues are a very important part of Starcraft and they shoudn't be underrated.
They also could have taken the Tennis system. WCS finals could be the end-of-season ATP finals, every tournament could be a Grand Slam, Major, Challenger, etc.

Does KR really get worse ping to Europe? Thats strange because Europe is physically closer to Korea than North America.

Good Starcraft II League?
WTF? It is still global, you can participate no matter where u come from.

The GSL has never exactly been known for its abundance of non-Korean participants

Yes, there's a reason why most EU vs NA games are usually played on NA server.
Sorry if this been asked before.. So there wont be GSL as usual, only WCS Korea. OP states all casts will be free 720p.. but before GSL had tickets. What now?

Are you kidding me seed is so good, and I guess I was sorta right XD
You missed my point. Winning a GSL should be a huge deal but many don't even remember Seed winning it because one GSL isn't worth much when you have 10 a year. The most prestigious sporting events in the world are the olympics and the world cup in soccer largely because they happen rarely.
I think 2 GSL and 2 OSL a year is pretty much perfect for the scene.
