The announcement only said that GSL and OSL both will sometimes function as qualifiers for WCS. Not that there would be no other GSL/OSL tournaments besides those.

the news is a little bit confusig. Can smbd help with couple question: 1. there gonna be hold 2 GSL and 1 OSL (so de facto 3 GSL like Tournaments a year)? 2. can a player take part in lets say GSL and then go to MLG and get qualified from 2 regions for WCS finals?? The points are gonna be separate for each region or they would add up? 3. How IEM involved into all of this? is it the same as ESL? Does Dreamhack belongs to ESL? 4. There's gonna be 2 Finals? 1 in so called "Final hosted by one of the Regions" with 6 players from that region +10 (5+5) from other 2. And then grand finals at Annaheim? If so what is the purpose of 2 finals? First Final is gona have already best 16 players from the world Thanks

Only 3 GSLs and 1 OSL this year in Korea, Second season of GSL starts tomorrow as WCS Korea Spring Season, Summer Season will be OSL, then Autumn Season GSL again, maybe a Blizzard Cup at the end of year. 2. I think a player's qualifying chance will be lock to his/her initial participation region. 3. ESL will use IEM as WCS Europe qualifier, Dreamhack is Dreamhack and has nothing to do with ESL, but I believe DH will contribute to WCS Europe since it's a significant tournament in EU. 4. You misunderstand season finals with grand finals, at the end of each season, there will be a seasonal final hosted at a offline event, ie. at the end of Spring Season top 5 finisher from GSL S2, top 5 from MLG Spring Season and top 5 from the next IEM event will go competing in a offline event like an MLG championship, that's the seasonal final, and there will be 3 of those.

Case A: None of the Koreans change their region- Effectively WCS becomes affirmative action for foreigners, and annoying one at that, where foreigners get handsomely rewarded for being consistently mediocre players who still cannot compete with Koreans. The culmination of the season will feature a stomp in the finals where the Koreans faceroll foreigners first chance they get. Meanwhile players in code A/B are for now screwed over completely with no chance of making it in the first time around. At the very least though, GSL/OSL prestige is largely unharmed, and it will remain as strong of a lineup as it ever was. Case B: Code B/A Koreans change their region: Well we will have essentially GSL ro16 in the WCS final, with the exception that the level of players will be lower than in ro16 of code S GSL. The upside is foreigners will get regionally stomped and get paid amounts more appropriate to their skill level, but the downside is that GSL loses some of its prestige, as the amount (and maybe skill) of players eager to battle their way through to code S gets lower. You end up with a group of solid koreans in NA and EU who will have to battle each other for the spots in these regions (foreigners will of course drop out early), yet you cannot determine how good all those transitioned players are until they meet the code S guys in WCS finals. This also becomes very unfair to the code S players, who have to battle it out against 31 best players in the world for the same amount of spots that 5-10 probably- lower- level Koreans will fight for in both NA and EU region. All this thought and hard work and you end up with something so bad, how is this possible? The good old saying goes "if its not broken, dont fix it". Anyone thinking that this will make foreigners more competitive is deluding themselves. The only matter in all of this is at which point in the process do foreigners get matched with Koreans to get rolled, and how much money are the rewarded beforehand? I hate that they are drifting away from a traditional model of competition where the best players can travel anywhere and take whats rightfully theirs for being the best, and switching to this bs type of competition where "everyone deserves a medal kids". My assumption is that blizzard has done some testing and this format is the most profitable for all the organizations involved, but do not try to spin into facilitating esports growth and competition, as it does the exact opposite for both. Its a completely flawed system which in any case hurts the "group" of very best players, while promotes scrubs and semi pros. This is an embarrassing result for the "hard working" people who have "worked on this for months".

First Final is gona have already best 16 players from the world Thanks 1. looks like there's gonna be 2 GSLs and 2 OSLs each year that work as WCS qualifiers (aside from this year where there's 2 GSLs and 1 OSL as we're already 3 months into the year and the season therefore has to be shorter). there may or may not be more GSL and/or OSL tournaments that do not count as WCS qualifiers. 2. no, each player can only participate in one region for the entire year. this is why there is so much discussion about Koreans moving to NA/EU to play in those regions rather than the much more difficult Korea. 3. IEM is run by ESL. Dreamhack is a different organization that is not part of ESL in any way. 4. each "season" has its own international finals event in one of the 3 regions. there are 3 seasons per year and each region will get exactly one finals. at the end of the year, there will be the overall finals at Blizzcon, which players qualify for through the finals of each season.

As far as I understand, WCS NA is the same with MLG. They will run WCS NA, and will continue to run their own events separately. IEM, MLG, DH, etc events may contribute WCS ranking points; that will be decided/announced later! Only in Korea has WCS replaced/taken over/merged with the hosts leagues

Im not as excited as I thougt I would be, in fact this announcement raised quite a lot of questions, will there only be one OSL and 2 GSL in 2013? how are the prizepools divided? ROOOAAAAAAR ![]() I surely hope Im just tired and dont get this because if it it what I think it is, I only see this as something that would fuck up for foreigners even more. What's wrong with that ? Very positive that they add an "official" individual league for both EU / NA. This is VERY good and the best possible move I think for trying to sanctuarise SC esport in EU/NA.

1.Weekend event ''MLG XXXX championship'' or ''IEM XXXX'' no longer exists? MLG and IEM consentrate on WCS NA or EU? 2.For example,if Taeja decide to participate in WCS NA after GSL Season2 ends,Is Taeja no longer able to participate in GSL Season3(or OSL 2013) in this year?
