Yeah, because we never had any foreigners in the top 16 of GSL. Oh wait, we did, and it was from the one or two players that got a seed into Code S. What would have happened if we had a big tournament with 60-70 foreigners and 10-20 koreans (which is what I expect from the EU/US tournaments)? I don't want a WCS final with 5 koreans and 10 foreigners who have barely played the korean scene and therefore get walked all over. I much prefer the koreans to enter the EU/US tournaments, beat up some "scrubs" and raise the level of the tournament to a level where they have a very good chaince in the WCS finals.

But between states and east Asia you just have one long underwater optical cable, while between east asia and europe you have to go from network of some of the countries in between.

It's the only tournament that I follow religiously these days because pretty much all other ones are just not up to par ![]() GSL has not changed in any way whatsoever. ok, OGN will also broadcast it, but you can still just watch on GOM (like everybody else will because Tastosis). aside from that, the GSL is still the same tournament as before, except HD is now apparently free.

Pros: -More organised global ranking system for all players. -More prize money $$$! That means more motivation and incentive for pros to improve skill level. -Allowing more people, opening the chance for non Koreans to now compete in the "top tier" of pro SC2. Cons: -Unfair ranking/seeding system for the global finals: Seeing there will be 5 US and 5 European against 5 Korean slots when really among the top 32 players in the world how many non-Koreans are there if any? Frankly I'd enjoy watching the Korean comp and regard it more highly than the global finals in this case. I see a lot of Koreans trying to qualify in the other two with this being the case, looks like Polt, Hyun etc are already aware and have made the moves to prepare. -Potential negative effect on non official leagues? NASL and Dreamhack are two notable organisations I can see lose out in this situation, they have to schedule to fit the WCS now and will possibly appear to carry less prestige, I hope they survive because even though I never followed them as well as I follow the Korean comps I enjoy turning on twitch and watching the latter stages of these tournaments when time allows. -Not inclusive of all regions, notably China (+Taiwan a.k.a Sen) misses out on getting their own region, they seem to be the country behind Korea with the highest skilled pros (They showed this when given their rare chances such as WCG and WCS). It will be hard for them to make it in Korea which means they are forced to compete in Europe or US? If they don't relocate they will have to endure lag during the online stages and maybe have to splash out on travel when they make the live stages? I also feel a bit sad Australia (and any other country/region such as SEA, South Americas, Africa! Antartica! even penguins deserve some love ok) is not given a chance, sure we're not a great eSports nation but surely we deserve some qualifier to get a chance at one of the main tournaments? Direct seeding will not be fair imo, I'd like to see some form of competition... -I think we'll be seeing less Starcraft as a result, only 3 seasons of GSL + OSL combined for the rest of 2013? Not sure about how stretched out they're going to make a season be really. -No points for GSTL and ProLeague this year. These are prestigious competitions and imo should really be given more consideration and give more chances to eSF and KeSPA players (refer con number 1). Ah wells, we'll see how things turn out. Hoping for all the best, and seriously hope Blizzard reconsider their global finals distribution policy. It's not as bad as it was in WCS 2012 where there were awfully few Koreans out of 32 and almost all Protoss (leading to PvP PvP PvP...) I see that potentially happening again T_T
