A plauer like polt or even demuslim should be able to play on NA but they both need to know the decision they are making. Same goes for a player living in Korea. There will be korean players left out of the finals that are better than foreigners in it, but this will also be the case when a Code A level player gets in from North America while a Code S level player gets knocked out in the GSL\OSL. Isn't WCS supposed to be composed of the best players from each region? Not a game of "musical chairs". I feel some leniency is good and so is strictness in this case.

I am excited, but skeptical. It could be amazing. It could fail. Let's grab some popcorn, wait and see. Alot, in fact, almost all of them. Becaues if Code S is really the qualifier for the WCS Korea, then the qualifiers for WCS Korea is only limited to the Code S players, which means that every other Korean progamer must search for their luck on another server.

Tastosis will cast the osl, which makes up for the missing gsl. So in the end, they will still be casting 4 KR tournaments this year as originally planned. 2 GSL's and 1 OSL, and they are actually the same tournament just different names. GSL qualifiers apply towards the next WCS season (OSL) and so on. The korean scene is being gutted I fear and they are the ones that are pushing the scene forward.

Furthermore, I'm guessing NASL, IEM, MLG and DreamHack will still be running their regular events, and it seems the pros will have extremely busy schedules if they want to participate in everything. I think it would have made more sense if they were limited by geography, rather than choosing a location willy nilly. What's the point of having 3 out of 5 American or European finalists residing and playing from Korea? I mean, ForGG, ReaL, Polt, and the Clarity Koreans are going through through the extra expense of living abroad to be able to compete in EU/NA, so a ton of Koreans can do the exact thing from home? If its an EU League, they should at least be temporarily living in the EU.

Players must pick what region they wish to play in, and are not restricted by nationality. It is possible for Korean players to choose to play in the NA/EU online leagues if they qualify. ??

1) They should have a system like in the world cup in football: people can only qualify through their region, but the koreans get more spots in the tournament. (ie, OSL and GSL shouldn't be devaluated because of Koreans trying to find easier leagues to qualify from.) 2) They should have made GSTL and PL into one big team league and give out points for wins towards the global tournament. Team leagues are a very important part of Starcraft and they shoudn't be underrated.

ESL do have studios in Cologne, they hold tons of tournaments there, like EPS Germany, WCS Germany, WCS Combined European Finals and lots of tournaments for other games. MLG might be doing something as incontrol hinted in San Francisco no?

Some of the events it's replacing have prize pools of 100k or so anyway. So I mean, yes, its cool, it's an increase, but just keep in mind its replacing the normal Code S and so on prize pools.

I take it that the Season Finales held in NA will be hosted by MLG, but that is only one offline-event a year. And as far as Dreamhack and NASL are concerned, at least for dreamhack we can say that offline-events will still have thheir place outside of WCS, the only thing I see greatly affected here is that maybe NA-players will be less inclined to travel (more like Koreans nowadays.) As for NASL, maybe they have to change their Format. There will still be normal MLG Pro Circuit that take place during the weekend. The WCS is another tournament that is separated from the current MLG. On April 03 2013 17:07 Clefairy wrote: This is lame. I was just really looking forward to an awesome GSL with a revitalized game without Broodlord Infestor... Then having the GSL champ assert his dominance by destroying MLG, IEM, Dreamhack, Iron Squid, NASL e.t.c. Wish Blizzard didn't bother butting in. Huh, we still have that. It just GSL/OSL are used to contribute to a bigger system but we would still have the same GSL, MLG, IEM, etc.
