No one that has ever won money at an MLG has ever claimed that earning said money was easy. So take your scrubby logic elsewhere. Foreigners are scrubs, that's true. But it is still not easy to win, just because plenty of good Koreans are in this tournament. This is still the favorite foreign tournaments for Koreans. So I don't think he's thinking it is an easy tournament to win, it is just they prefer MLG, because they have a contract with MLG, and also it is a paid reward vacation for Rain from SKT after his OSL win. So, actually I think he will probably get eliminated very early, just because his mind is not to win.
After all this his mind is on winning for sure!
Plus, I think in many ways WCS Asia is the most comparable tournament and he DOMINATED that so hard. I think he'll crush this MLG.

Mostly because Mr. Chae knows how to draw a huge foreign base. OSL puts on terrible laggy streams, lag VOD's, and has shown they are inept so far when dealing with a foreign audience. GSL even has a bigger prize pool. You could use the whole OSL is more prestigious thing, but that was Brood War and we're in a new game now.
I will give OSL the edge in the trophy department.
Yeah this is true. But watch out you are speaking logic here! :p

Yeah but try kissing that thing. It's not very kissable, which is a huge issue for OSL, probably their biggest issue at the moment.

What. NOOOOOO!!!
Well. At least I know he'll be rolling face overseas at MLG. Maybe he wants to go a little more global than just through the GSL?

The fact that he got relegated to only Code A is a very light punishment. Yeah. It's actually a silly double standard. It's somewhat fun, because the last guy who did this had the same name, and got suspended for 2 seasons and completely thrown out of the tournament, but that's only a fun coincidence with the Rain name, in reality it's quite saddening that they treat people so differently based on popularity (Terran Rain was never very popular...). Just shows to you, GOM doesn't have much of rules or standards to run a tournament, go with the flow, not business like. Being pragmatic isn't "business-like"?
Rain was a cheesy noob very few people liked. By.Sun is one of the hottest players in the world. Of course GOM wants him in their tournament.

I missed most of this thread. IS IT PITCHFORK TIME YET?!?!?!
... but seriously, the games this morning could have used more cowbell. I sure missed Rain, but am stoked to see him play at MLG!

Do you people keep forgetting that Gom FORCED Rain to play in their league? lol
Yes that's why he got all the way to the semi and then intentionally lost there.

time for ESF players to threathen with boycotting a kespa event again :D
oh well, im quite enjoying this. anyway, ez money for rain. gogo.

Yeah, and I thought he played pretty danm well all considered. Just using him as an example though, I mainly put it out there just because I hate walkover situations.

KeSPA-MLG deal more importan than GOM?

After dropping his GSL run, he has to win this weekend or at the very least 2nd place or it will be a huge fail imo.

hmm...well looks like he's gonna have to get back in to make SKT1 magic happen again

Careful what you wish for. Wouldn't be surprised if some ESF players refuse to play at the next OSL because of Rain's stunt.

Hopefully GSL does what they did with (other)Rain and suspend him for a season. Rain was one of the GSL's main stars after S4 and could have been a reason why a lot of people bought a ticket.
You got that right. The hype of last season were the KeSPA players and Rain was the most successful one (building on the hype train) and it's sad to see it come to this.
IMO, this is probably due to MLG + KeSPA partnership, I assume that KeSPA players have to play MLG.
If it were up to me, I'd say keep playing GSL as it is the biggest SC2 tournament right now and the most prestigious.

pros definitely value OSL more than any other tournament just because of the historical prestige.
|
Should Gom punish Rain, like suspending him for a season and making him qualify for code A?
|
if Rain is training in Kespa regimen (14 hours per day?) he might be able to keep up xd

OGN players do.
I'm pretty sure many ESF players who have been playing in Code A qualifiers/Code A/Code S for the past two years would much rather win GSL.

Maybe in the past but the recent OSL SC2 finals wasn't as packed and smaller than the GSL finals.
GSL built a huge part of the SC2 professional scene and to me, it's more prestigious than the OSL (at least in terms of SC2).
This is partly me being bias against KeSPA though (with how they tried to ruin GSL and stuff).
I definitely want OSL to succeed and to become another premier tournament but alongside with the GSL too.

Yeah, what you said. Though in any case, personally I'd value GSL or OSL win over an MLG win.
No one remembers MKP winning MLG multiple times (or going head to head with DRG 3 times in a row) but everyone remembers GSL finals.
