GSL built a huge part of the SC2 professional scene and to me, it's more prestigious than the OSL (at least in terms of SC2). This is partly me being bias against KeSPA though (with how they tried to ruin GSL and stuff). I definitely want OSL to succeed and to become another premier tournament but alongside with the GSL too. Yeah, what you said. Though in any case, personally I'd value GSL or OSL win over an MLG win. No one remembers MKP winning MLG multiple times (or going head to head with DRG 3 times in a row) but everyone remembers GSL finals. i think everyone remembers that lol. I think in SC2, tournament prestige goes GSL>OSL>MLG>All and the only reason OSL is on there is because of its Brood War history. my favorite player made the finals so I wont forget it, but for many it was a forgettable season. They have a lot of growing room.

I think a tournament populated by players from only one country will always have less appeal and prestige than an international tournament.

I also agree that players should follow money and prestige, but he could have told GSL about his decision much earlier and not create a scheduling issue.

Except when said country proven time and time again it simply has the best players. There is no way that MLG has more prestige in SC2 than the GSL.

Never listen to commentary anyway, and as a fan from BW I believe the Kespa players are the superior RTS players so I much prefer the OSL. Also, love the fact that it takes 1-2 hours to get through the OSL every day compared to 5+ hours for GSL. The only reason OSL is quicker is because they have less games/series per day. OSL seems to actually have more downtime than GSL from what I watched.

Although MLG might be a good way to connect with American fans. Play some entertaining games, take some fan pictures, give out autographs, and perhaps shout out some memorable sound-bites or fancy ceremonies. It seems like a good way to build up some recognition from international fans without having too difficult of a competition to fight through.

OSL has a loooooot more downtime compared to GSL, but that's due to OSL being on television and GOM being online.

That is the beauty of GSL, they don't interfere with the players and their careers. In fact GSL has always been accommodating towards players and their tight schedules as long as it's early notice.
