A more realistic Utility Function for Rain going to MLG would be something like this: E(U) = (Prize Winnings x Probability of Winning) + (Net Benefit from traveling to a new country) + (NB of foreign sponsorship exposure) + (NB of foreign fan exposure) + (NB of personal reasons) like this maybe... E(U) = ($25000 x .25) + ($1000) + ($5,000) + ($2,000) + ($1000) E(U) = $15,250 vs if he Stayed in Korea and played in GSL: E(U) = ($50,000 x .25) + ($0) + ($0) + ($0) + ($0) E(U) = $12,500 Both scenarios assume a 25% chance of winning the Finals. I just chose some educated guesses as numbers to include in the example.

Also, at least for this past season, I'd say winning Code S was a much more difficult feat than the OSL.

Oh and lets not jump to any conclusions about KeSPA, keep the pitchforks away until more information is available.

Just seems like random numbers you pulled out.

MLG is good, but even if he wins MLG - it's nothing like winning in GSL. I wish they could have worked this out; but oh well. My two favorite guys to watch right now are Rain and MVP.

The problem was never his decision, it was that he never informed GOM about his decision.

At first, I was irritated and I still do believe that much could have been done earlier to prevent this kind of conflict, heck, GOM moved the entire Group E to next week. Still, you can't blame Rain for going and I'm sure he, Kespa and Gom have learned from this. I can just remember how I was almost brought to tears when the first wave of Kespa pros went to MLG's, they seemed so surprised that they had such a huge foreign fanbase. Now, they play not just for themselves AND Korean fans but for foreign fans as well. I'm sure Rain just couldn't wait to be a part of that. He's still young after all. Again, I hope he pulls a Leenock and wins the entire tournament from the open bracket, he's such a smart player with safe enough play to guarantee that unless it's a top Korean cheesing him, he can probably survive enough to get to the groups.
