Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't this pretty much impossible for Rain? By withdrawing from this tournament doesn't it mean that he has to re-qualify for the next one?
edit: Nevermind he is still has his Code A spot. Still awfully risky.

I've seen many people reply the same thing to you, but maybe one more time works. The problem was never his decision, it was that he never informed GOM about his decision.
And as I've said before, he decided after OSL when it was too late, and I wouldn't blame him for having only OSL (and GSL not long before) on his mind. We should cut him slack for waiting until the last minute for his decision because he's just a kid who wants to travel abroad and experience a foreign event.

Well this certainly puts GOM in an akward choice now. 1. They punish Rain somehow and create a lot of dislike from all people that are "its just a kid, cut him some slack" and in general Rain fans. 2. They don't punish Rain but then they basically say "you can just not show up and we won't punish you" so the next time someone less popular does the same they either punish said person and show they favor fan favorites and by this give themselves a bad reputation or don't and then it will be more common.

Smartest decision he'll ever make.
His time spent : money earned ratio will go way up by skipping the long tournaments.
You can win as much prestige as you want through your career, but last time I checked you can't buy a house with prestige. It won't pay for your education either.
And let's be honest, winning a GSL isn't exactly like a gold medal in the olympics, or winning the world cup now, is it?

Not exactly. He probably will play more sets in MLG than he would have in GSL (assuming he win either) so given that GSL pays almost twice as much, this is not necessary smart decision money-wise. GSL is 2 month long but there is plenty of downtime for each player.

They already made him go to Code A Round 1. I think for a previous runner-up, that's punishment enough.

That's not a punishment. Player finishing last in the group go to Code A Round 1. And he lost all his matches by forfeiting.

Well, he probably won't have to win as many sets vs Koreans in MLG (although it will be close)

He was semi-finalist. Although the point is still valid.

why would it be common to leave code S when it takes so much effort to get it? It doesnt benefit a player whatsoever to leave code S and if they do they dont get the bigger prize money. So people would just randomly start leaving code S beacuse they can? Yeah that makes a lot of sense. Except it doesnt im sarcastic.

I see him getting hit by karma and losing immediately, going down to Code B.
