Foreigners are scrubs, that's true. But it is still not easy to win, just because plenty of good Koreans are in this tournament. This is still the favorite foreign tournaments for Koreans. So I don't think he's thinking it is an easy tournament to win, it is just they prefer MLG, because they have a contract with MLG, and also it is a paid reward vacation for Rain from SKT after his OSL win. So, actually I think he will probably get eliminated very early, just because his mind is not to win.

It's somewhat fun, because the last guy who did this had the same name, and got suspended for 2 seasons and completely thrown out of the tournament, but that's only a fun coincidence with the Rain name, in reality it's quite saddening that they treat people so differently based on popularity (Terran Rain was never very popular...).

It isn't a question of explicit talent in competition; it is a question of tournament format, and when it comes down to it, MLG is the toughest format in Sc2, at least insofar as major tournaments are concerned. The GSL, by virtue of its emphasis on extended preparation against a select few players, is perhaps the best means of ascertaining plain 1v1 skill; the tournament format itself provides little inherent obstacle. MLG, on the other hand, adds in a healthy test of endurance, repetitive stress, and consistency, leading to an end result of a tournament that highlights the players best able to "outlast" the competition. The moral of the story? This ain't easy money, no matter how you look at it.

True, but no one compared MLG to GSL. Compared to GSL, MLG is not even on the chart in pure skill of players. The main difference though is the preparation time for matches, witch makes comparing the two not so easy.

Just shows to you, GOM doesn't have much of rules or standards to run a tournament, go with the flow, not business like.

Do you people keep forgetting that Gom FORCED Rain to play in their league? lol They threw a fit when the Kespa players said they wouldn't play in the GSL for a few seasons.

Your post is entirely incorrect. You are mixing up organisations and people. I don't think there's a single correct fact in your post, actually. Try again please.

The idea that pro-gamers wouldn't want to play in a tournament in their home country with a high prize pool and were forced to is laughable. Should we also believe that Mr. Chae held a gun to Rain's head throughout every round, forcing him to play in every round? I expect Rain cheered and celebrated when he was finally eliminated by MVP. Thank God he didn't have to play for $50,000!

It's Rain's problem , not GSL's. He probably think he is not going to get far in the tournament. Last OSL was not that impressive in terms of quality anyway. Many good players were out early because of the silly BO1 format (or that they didn't care enough).

Mostly because Mr. Chae knows how to draw a huge foreign base. OSL puts on terrible laggy streams, lag VOD's, and has shown they are inept so far when dealing with a foreign audience. GSL even has a bigger prize pool. You could use the whole OSL is more prestigious thing, but that was Brood War and we're in a new game now. I will give OSL the edge in the trophy department.
