As emotionally invested as people are on this topic, TL rules still apply. That includes flaming and ad hominem attacks. |

And in Sweden frape is considered a form of hacking/cracking (I'm sure it would be the same case for twitter) and you can be charged with daily fines, or up to two years in prison.
Accessing someone else's accounts without their permission is a criminal offense in most jurisdictions in the developed world. Whether or not the granting of access to the e-mail account would be considered permission to access even that outside of the stated purpose of the access (scheduling lessons) may vary from place to place. However, it is a crime that is very rarely prosecuted.
It is highly unlikely that an investigation would even begin unless Destiny attempted to bring charges. Also, it would drag on publicity about this for far longer than necessary - his own actions would likely end up discussed in any trial as well, as mitigating circumstances.

Posting her naked pics on amateur porn sites would obviously be taking this to yet another level of stupidity and it would serve no good. If possible, however, I hope Destiny takes legal action.

I'm no fan of destiny and his gaming personality, but I think this situation has been blown way out of proportion. Destiny only sent the pictures to two friends in private but did not post it to the internet. The situation is then made public by the girl in the pictures, who posts the chat logs and Destiny's nude pics to the Internet.
However, the ones actually responsible for esclating the issue by getting sponsors involved and Destiny fired from ROOT are the non-SC2 reddit posters who jumped to conclusions and believed that Destiny had posted the pics to the internet.
This is like if you discuss someone's pictures in private with several friends, but it turns out this person has been recording your conversation with a bug. This person then posts this conversation for all to see while presenting it in a negative light. A bunch of random other people who do not fully understand the issue then take up this person's case and get you fired from your work and your reputation ruined. Yes Destiny was a dick to discuss with his friends pictures intended only for him, but does this mean he should be punished in this way? Everyone, including destiny has a right to privacy.
Even though Destiny has been an asshole in the past, that is no justification why he should be automatically assumed to be guilty of and punished for something far worse (posting nude pics to the internet) than what he actually did (discuss in a private conversation with friends). Its like someone getting convicted of murder instead of assualt because he had an "asshole personality."
Incidents like this reinforce the mostly incorrect stereotype that pro gamers are lecherous, misogynistic, and immature losers who have no professionalism. Unfortunately, in this case Destiny was not at fault, but instead the non-gaming community that applied that stereotype to him and got him fired.

This community, as well as the one on reddit or anywhere is else is not responsible for these players and the stupid shit some of them do, whether its racism, sexism, bigotry, general douchey behavior, homophobia, pedophilia or whatever else you can come up with.
Sponsors dont not wish to be associated with such individuals for obvious reasons, calling them out on it and putting a spotlight is the only right thing to do.
The community is not here to cover up for your inability like a professional Yeah right, let us all turn professional players into colourless figures that are well mannered and type GG every time. They shouldnt talk about private stuff, only should talk about the game. I guess NOBODY is happy with that. People want drama and want to know more about the players than just about their results. I like people with personality much more than shadeless people who appear as robots. I like people as stephano (even though he is a arrogant dick in laddergames sometimes), MC, marineking, destiny, and idra. You guys dont get that consequences this kind of stuff has. If people are pitchforking the sponsors because of a misbehavior of a player, players will stop showing any personality at all. They will appear as robots because they are afraid of punishment. I like emotions in sports and i like emotions in esports. I like it when idra doesnt GG if he doesnt feel like it. Some people hate or love him for doing that. And people also want the players to talk their mind and not just meaningless stuff that doesnt offend anyone. If you keep msging the sponsors, you will take away a big part of what makes esports interessting. You know what the key difference between players like MC, marineking, Idra, Stephano and Destiny is? MC, marineking, idra and Stephano ARE ACTUALLY GOOD AT STARCRAFT. They're professional PLAYERS. They have results to prove it. Destiny is not the 'Dennis Rodman' or 'Ron Artest' of Starcraft 2. He's more like a fan with season tickets that bitches and whines on the sidelines. Or a beer league baller that's a big basketball fan that can do one dunk. If I were to be really, really charitable, he would be Bill Simmons without the talent or writing ability. Destiny is more of a fun, expendable personality than an actual player. He makes money from interacting and trolling the community, not from actually playing it well. If you want to compare the value of 'personalities' of players like Destiny, compare him to Combatex.
So what your saying is?
If you are actually good then anything short of murder is alright as long as you win tournaments?
Meanwhile if you are mediocre= You gt the full penalty and more?

The community is not here to cover up for your inability like a professional But thats the point, he hasn't done anything actually un-professional.. literally nothing he has done in this whole incident ACTUALLY affects the community here. Sure, some stuff happened in his personal life, but that had nothing to do with his job (a professional doesn't have to be professional outside his job). You could point out the various rude things (etc) he's said along the line... but that sorta thing is part of WHY he is popular... essentially its part of his job (Because if you stream and everyone watches you for the snidy remarks and rude comments etc... then isn't doing that being professional?). It seems to me that you personally don't like his stream, so you want him gone. So no, no un-professionality here. Ergo, no reason to (in a rather pathetic manner) contact the sponsors.
People will still be self righteous in thinking its important that they tattle on someone like this in the name of 'maturity'. Its pathetic how many people actually are up in arms against him over this and how its just like the racist non sense. Says words in joking manner - white guys hate him as a racist, penis is on the internet because a girl seeks vengeance over him discussing her attractiveness - feminists do the same. WTF? Neither of those groups even suffered, so a complaint is entirely out of line.
Edit - my phone blew it!

If Destiny gives people his passwords, he is responsible for what they do with them.
And let's be honest here, if this chick was fucking Destiny she's probably a little mentally unstable to begin with.

I can't believe yet another team caved. Of all the things warranting a witch hunt that have had the most remote of relevance to that player's gaming career, this must have the least. In fact, it has virtually nothing to do with it.
I guess when you're an SC2 celebrity everyone is entitled to your personal life -- in that, if it's discovered you aren't a perfect, upstanding citizen, no matter how much your privacy may have been violated, your ability to play the game or represent a team all but disappear before the eyes of miniscule, disgruntled, hyper-sensitive netizens whose opinion apparently overrides the fans who massively outnumber them.
I can't find respect in ROOT or their sponsors for this decision. They're empowering the worst kind of netizen. The issues players get fired over become increasingly more trivial. Every time a player get's removed from a team following a witch hunt, the expectations upon every other professional increase. It's no longer an issue of whether or not a player fucks up, it's when they accidentally reveal their personal life, confirming that they are in fact, a normal human being.
When you upload/send nude pictures of yourself on the internet you're basically accepting that they will inevitably be spread to other people. The solution is to not upload/send nude pictures of yourself.

LMAO, that's awesome. I'm afraid we can't expect this kind of response from other sponsors though, especially not bigger ones. The e-sports scene is still in its infancy and if new sponsors get a ton of negative feedback, their natural reaction will be to shy away from the e-sports industry.

destiny loses literally nothing by being removed from ROOT, his entire career has been based around streaming and I can't see this affecting his viewer numbers negatively. everyone on their high horses about his career supposedly being sunk should probably go back a year or so when his pro career actually had a chance of being something and he spent it getting knocked out of MLG opens.
but no, let's have him waste his time with more sideshow antics, maybe he'll finally get judge judy on the case
edit: that cloudnine link says nothing about him playing in pro tournaments or being a pro player, it's just streaming. I totally agree with them: the simple fact is that destiny has no place on a serious pro team which is ostensibly what ROOT wants to be and why catz had to do what he did. destiny has a niche; let him occupy it and be done with this horrid thread.

ye i find those things not that bad at all. destiny causes drama, inside the game can discuss they heards out and provide entertaining shows. reddit has something to upvote. it keeps the whole scene driving ^^
but honestly i don't think destiny (while he wasn't the main producer of this drama - bluetea was) can pull a bigger drama next time than this

What i find most scary is that with the help from a feminist witchhunt subreddit it is possible to get a player kicked off a team. It really doesnt matter what happened here, but just the fact that some scums/trolls have that ability is just so wrong.

There will be no witchhunt if there is nothing to hunt to begin with... Very difficult for Destiny it seems. Tough luck.. maybe if he win MLG or IEM he can be the hero we need but don't deserve
